Hello Passers (U8) Coaches, The Passers Tournament will be held October 24 -25, 2015 at Landen-Deerfield Park. All Passers teams will be in the tournament (separate tournaments for boys and girls). It is a win and move on (lose and you are done for the season) tournament. Here is some more information on the tournament: 1.) Brackets: The brackets for the tournaments will be posted on the Kings Soccer Club (KSC) website and sent out via email to you by October 14, 2015. 2.) Players Time: Each player must play ½ the game (2 quarters). A player’s time starts when they go to the half-way line to be subbed in as one cannot anticipate when the ball will go out of play. Recording players’ time is not required for the Kings Passers Tournament. However, tracking and recording of players’ time is required for the SAY North Tournament (see #5). If you think your team has a chance of finishing in 1st or 2nd place in the Kings Passers Tournament it is recommended that you practice tracking and recording players time for at least the final game. 3.) Review the Overtime Rules and bring a filled out Shootout form to each game (see the KSC website: Passers Tournament Information). 4.) Trophies/Medals: Trophies will be given to the 1st and 2nd place teams. All other teams will receive medals. Medals can be picked up at the KSC tent immediately following your game. 5.) SAY North Tournament*: Boys and Girls 1st and 2nd place teams will move on to the SAY North Tournament which will be held October 31 - November 1, 2015. Boys will play at Liberty Park (Lakota/Liberty Township) and Girls will play at Hopewell Elementary (West Chester). Each player must play ½ the game (2 quarters). Each player’s time must be tracked and recorded. Each team must provide a parent volunteer to sit on the side with the coaches and track the opposing team’s players time to ensure everyone is getting to play. There is a form on the KSC website (under Passers Tournament Information) that you will need to print to be used at each game. A player’s time starts when they go to the half-way line to be subbed in as one cannot anticipate when the ball will go out of play. More detailed information will be provided to you after October 25, 2015. 6.) State Tournament: If your team wins 1st or 2nd place in the SAY North tournament they will go on to the State tournament which is scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2015. More information will be provided to you after the SAY North Tournament. 7.) Equipment and Pictures: Go the KSC tent during the Passers Tournament weekend to drop off your equipment and pick up your picture packets. 8.) Other: These are items that should already be happening at games. If they are not, start to prepare yourself now for the following: a.) Players must be at the half-way line in order to be substituted into the game (not sitting on or standing by your bench). b.) Review the rules for when substitutions can be made (see the KSC website: Coaches Corner, Passers U8 Division rules). c.) Coaches are to remain behind the side line or behind the 2nd white line: spectator/coaches line and between the half-way line and the top/beginning line of the goalkeeper area. d.) Teams will change sides every quarter.

e.) Special note: Throw-ins: improper throw-ins will be redone in the Kings Passers tournament. However, for the SAY North and State Tournaments, if your team does a throw-in improperly possession of the ball will be given to the other team. Kick-offs: improper kick offs that involve a double touch by the kick off player will result in a free kick awarded to the other team. However if the kickoff is improper because the ball did not go forward, the ball was never properly put into play and therefore, the kickoff will be retaken (a free kick will not be given to other team).

Please email me with any questions or if you prefer to speak in person I am at Landen-Deerfield Park Tuesday – Thursday most weeks and can set up a time to talk with you before/after my team’s practices. Thank you, Chrissy Toennis [email protected] *SAY North Tournament: Landen-Deerfield Park is the site for the U10 and U12 boys and girls tournament. A volunteer (parent or coach) from each team to help out at the tournament is required: field marshal, sign in table, etc. A separate email with sign up information will be sent out soon.
