School is almost back in session and fall will be here soon. Fall is a beautiful time to visit the North Georgia mountains as the leaves begin to change and the festivals start. Come and see us soon, we enjoy having you in the shop.
It has been a busy summer at The Quilt Shop on Main. We have had the North Georgia Shop Hop and Color My World event. Thank you for participating and making both events successful.
July, August, and September at a Glance:
We are in the middle of “Row by Row H20” and it is going well. We are enjoying seeing quilters from all over Georgia and the U.S. visiting the shop. Cindi Richardson was the first customer to bring her finished Row by Row quilt into the shop. Cindi chose some beautiful fat quarters as her prize. The quilt is hanging in the shop for everyone to see. Thank you Cindi for all your hard work.

Teacher: Wanda Richardson September 17th 10:30 $5 class fee Wanda leads the class with a new quilt pattern to use your stash. Come prepared with fabric to choose for a project, bring fabric ready to cut or bring your project cut and ready to sew.
Teacher: Karen Williams August 22nd and September 26th 10:30 – 4:00 $10 class fee Stay tuned. The sample will be in the shop soon.
Moda Bake Shop Teacher: Karen Williams
August 20th $5 class fee Moda Bake Shop is a club where we use precut fabrics such as Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes and Charm Squares to make quilts. Each month Karen shows you what she has made with a precut. Then the club members have a choice to make the project with the fabric Karen has used or choose another fabric line or maybe something they have purchased before. We always have a show in tell of projects the club members have finished. It is fun and the club members always have so much to contribute to our Moda Bake Shop Club. August Moda Bake Shop we will be using a layer cake. So bring your favorite layer cake or purchase one at the shop.
Classes Glue Stick Applique Teacher: Lizz Ploppert July 31th 10:30 – 1:30 $25 class fee The fine art of hand or machine applique is just beautiful and easy to accomplish when you use the glue stick applique method. Using a glue stick helps you easily turn the raw edges to the back of you pieces so they are easy to applique by hand or by machine. You just have to see how beautiful this method makes your applique.
Beginning Machine Piecing Teacher: Karen Williams July 29th, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, and September 2nd 10:00 – 12:30 6:00 – 8:30 PM $90 class fee This six week class is for the person who has the question “How do I piece a quilt?” How to rotary cut fabric, half square triangles, strip piecing,
flying geese and much more. Karen will show you and teach you how to piece and quilt a beautiful quilt. When you finish with this class you will have the confidence to piece quilts on your own.
T – Shirt Quilt Teacher: Nancy Wilhoit August 7th 10:00 – 1:00 $20 class fee Take this class to know the basics of T-Shirt quilts. Your will learn how to prepare you t-shirts, cutting and stabilizing the t – shirts. Nancy will cover the design process of making a t-shirt quilt too.

3 – D Bird House Teacher: Lizz Ploppert August 21st 10:30 – 1:30 $25 class fee This in one you have to see. The 3 – D Birdhouse is just so cute. When you open the birdhouse you will see cute applique birds inside the house. This can be used as a wall hanging, too. Come into the shop and see the sample. It is just unique. There is a fee of $20 for the pattern and the plastic foundation used to make the birdhouse.
English Paper Piecing Teacher: Joanne Patton July 29th 1:30 - 4:30 $25 class fee Joanne will teach you the fine art of “English Paper Piecing”. She has some beautiful samples to show you. You will also learn the fine stitches that are used in this technique. Joanne has used hexagons, diamonds, and honey combs. She has had a great time with this technique. Pumpkin Grins Teacher: Sherry Branka September 19th 10:30 – 1:30 $25 class fee Cutest pumpkin wall hanging you have seen. Sherry made the log cabin wall hanging using Eleanor Burns’ method of making log cabin blocks. She would love to share with you how fast, fun, and easy it is to make this fall wall hanging.
