High Five Team Tangerine!
Five years and five consecutive J.D. Power Awards… Team Tangerine has nailed it again! The pride, love, and appreciation I feel is beyond words. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making Tangerine the most innovative, Client-focused bank in Canada. Ranking top in overall customer satisfaction, not only among mid-sized banks, but also the Big 5 Canadian banks is a serious accomplishment. We also received the highest scores in Product, Communication, Personal Service (Call Centre, Assisted Online) and Self Service (website, ABM, mobile). These results are a recognition from our own Clients of the exceptional products, service and experience YOU provide every day. YOU made this happen, and YOU deserve a big high five!
Here’s my request: While I can’t go desk-to-desk, Café to Café, Pop-Up to Pop-Up or Kiosk to Kiosk, giving out well-deserved high fives, I can ‘lend you a hand’ in appreciating those around you – today and in the future. And when you see me, I would love a high five too! Please take the time to recognize the big and small things that your team is doing to put our Clients first and make our bank a great place to work. As we grow, this is REALLY important to remember. Dish out some high fives, and let people know when they are being awesome. Our journey to be the best every day direct bank for Canadians continues! Thank you for helping pave this path.

Delivering the Perfect High Five
You have received an official Tangerine High Five Hand. Use it at your own discretion, to recognize teammates who have been, or are currently being awesome. While the origin of the high five remains a contested issue, its positive impact on others is certified. This guide will help you optimize your high five experience.
Proper Technique
50°-90°
1. Locate a Team Tangerine Member It takes two to tango. High fiving yourself will just look like clapping. Find someone awesome.
2. Pull Back
3. Let It Fly
4. Congratulate
Extend your arm up and back at a 50° to 90° angle (behind your ear, roughly). Establish eye contact and deliver a knowing smile, to ensure the recipient is on board with the incoming five.
Launch your open hand forward, connecting it to the Team Tangerine member’s hand. If you hear a soft ‘smack’ sound, you are doing it right. Focus on his or her elbow as you swing. For real – this works.
Everyone has their own spin on this message, but sentiment should resemble something close to “your work is valued and appreciated”. This can take many forms, such as “Nicely done on that presentation!” or “Great job with that Client!”
Recognition Dos and Don’ts Do •
• • •
Don’t Keep recognition top-of-mind throughout the year, for accomplishments large and small among fellow Team Tangerine members – this is vital as we continue to grow Be proactive in recognizing others Give recognition to those who may not normally receive it, helping them feel valued Try variations – The Down Low (low handed version of the classic high five), The Wi Five (high five from a distance), or The Fist Bump (with optional explosive ending)

Be insincere with your congratulatory message – make sure it comes from the heart Wait too long to deliver a well-earned high five or words of recognition Use blanket statements – be specific with your recognition Attempt to interlock your fingers at the end of a high five – it’s just creepy
