Highland  Youth  Soccer   2016  – 2017  Travel  Soccer  Program Highland  Youth   Soccer  provides   children   in  our  community   the  opportunity   to  learn  the  game  of   soccer  by  building   fundamental  skills   that  prepare  them  for  high  school   play.  HYS  also  promotes   an  appreciation   for  the  game  as  form  of  recreation  and  exercise,  fostering  teamwork  and  good   sportsmanship. Age   Divisions: • U8-­‐U10   (DOB  between   2009-­‐2007) -­‐ This  is  HYS   introduction   to  travel   soccer.   The   focus   at  this   level   is  on   the   team  environment.    Players   will  continue   to  learn   tactics  of   the  game,  including   field   position,   defending   as  a  group   and   attacking   the   opposing   goal.  Playing   time  is  guaranteed   for  all   players.   Players   will  receive   professional   training  lead   by   Force   Soccer   Academy   or  Highland   High   School   soccer   coaches.     • U11-­‐U14   (DOB  between   2006-­‐2002)   -­‐ The   goal  of  this  level   is  to  continue   developing   the  player   in   a  m ore   competitive   team  environment.   Age  groups   maybe   be   combined   so   that  players   of  similar   skill  level   are  playing   together,   and   playing   time  m ay  be   limited  based   on   individual   player   skill.     Players   will  receive   professional   training   lead  by   Force   Soccer   Academy   or   Highland   High  S chool   soccer   coaches.     Games/Training: • Games  are  typically   played   on   weekends   (and   occasional   weeknights)   against  local  communities   in   the   Ohio   Travel   Soccer   League   (OHTSL)  w ith   away  games  approximately   10  to   45  m iles  away.     Home   games  and   training   are  located   at  G ranger   Park   fields  or  S haron   Community   Park   fields. • Training   consists   of  two   nights  a  w eek,   with  a  focus   on   technical   skills  and   a  team  practice. • Equipment:   players   should   bring   a  w ater   bottle,   ball  and   shin   guards  to   all  training   sessions/games.     Season/Schedule: • Fall  2016   -­‐ Aug  through   Oct  and   will  consist   of  8  to   10  w eeks   of  games  and   training. • Winter   2016/2017   -­‐ Nov   through   Mar   and  w ill  consist   of  18   weeks  of   indoor   training   at  F orce   Sports   Fairlawn.   • Spring   2017   -­‐ Apr   through   Jun  and   will  consist   of  8  to   10  w eeks   of  games  and   training. Registration/Evaluations: • New  travel   player   evaluations   will  be  held   in   May.   Please  visit   www.highlandyouthsoccer.com between   May   1-­‐15   to  register   for   the  evaluation   process   (only   need   to  attend   one   session).     § New  player   evaluations   for   boys   will  be   May   9th &  23rd § New  player   evaluations   for   girls  w ill  be   May   17th &   24th • In  June,   you   will  be  notified   if  there   is  team  availability   for   your   player,   at  w hich   point   you   can   accept   and   complete   the   registration   process.   To  register,   you   will  need   to  provide   a  copy   of  the   player’s   birth   certificate   along  w ith   a  recent   photo.   • The   cost   for  a  full  year   of  travel   soccer:   $325   (per   season   is  $170   for  spring   or   fall  &   $100   for   winter).
