Founded in 2007, Highline Wealth Management is a boutique independent advisory firm that provides investment management and counseling to clients with complex financial needs. Having outgrown their previous Bethesda location, a more generic space that did not reflect the firm’s identity, the client desired a new space representative of their people, success, industry and culture. The design had to strike a balance between creating a sense of playfulness for their employees who typically work long hours in the office while providing a high quality space for visiting clientele. The design of Highline Wealth Management’s new 11,170 square-foot office balances the formality of a financial firm and the playful personality of its employees through the use of design elements that encourage collaboration and promote openness. Catering to the client’s “work hard, play hard” culture, the manicured entry, conferencing and entertainment functions are centrally located to serve the needs of their clientele, while a staff café and lounge provides an informal gathering space for staff to unwind. To promote a sense of openness and maximize daylight glass-fronted offices were placed inboard, away from the window line, while workstations occupy the perimeter. The open space was designed as a catalyst for staff communication and interaction, while serving the needs of their clientele.
