HITTING – Power Pods eDrill 062 Skill Level: All Focus: Hitting
Steps:
1
► The Hitter lines up properly to the Batting T (so that the T is near her front foot after she takes her stride) and places the Power Pod on the ground where her back foot goes.
2
► The hitter places the ball of her back foot on the Power Pod and gets into her normal batting stance. It’s important that the player puts the ball of her foot on the Power Pod and not the Arch of her foot, and that she place her foot on the part of the Pod closest to her, instead of the very top or the opposite side.
► Be sure that the flat part of the Power Pod is facing down and on the ground.
► With her back foot on the Power Pod, the hitter gets into her normal batting stance. Before taking a swing she needs to push down into the Pod using her back foot & knee and make small circles with her hands to help create a looser, more relaxed stance. Make sure your hitter isn’t leaning over her back foot using her upper body which is a common mistake.
3
► Have your hitter push down into the Power Pod with her back foot and knee and as the Pod pushes her back up she will take her swing – hitting the ball off the T.
4
► The purpose of the Power Pod is to help hitters transfer their weight forward when hitting, or getting linear, resulting in more power.
