Hofstra officially tied Georgetown, 2-2, before outlasting the Hoyas, 4-2, on kicks. Starting goalkeeper Friederike Mehring played all 110 minutes of actual time and made eight saves before Wilson came in for the shootout. Just For Kicks: Hofstra’s penalty kick session against Georgetown marked the Pride’s first shootout since 2012. In that season, Hofstra advanced in both the CAA Championship quarterfinals and semifinals on penalty kicks, outlasting Northeastern and William & Mary on the road. Record Breaker: Leah Galton’s two goals against William & Mary on Sept. 25 allowed her to make history. Galton’s second goal moved her past former teammate Sam Scolarici for the program’s all-time points record. Scolarici registered 108 points and set the previous record in 2014. Galton can still set the program’s all-time goal mark and is tied for the program’s all-time assist record. Galton File: Leah Galton is in her final collegiate season and has already set some of Hofstra’s most prestigious career records. In 2014, Galton fell one goal shy of matching Sam Scolarici’s singleseason record of 18 goals set in 2013. Galton has three of the program’s 13-highest scoring seasons in team history. On a national scale, Galton had the seventh-most points of any active Division I player with 122 entering Nov 16. Galton is also one of just 12 active Division I players with 30 goals and 20 assists, joining Virginia’s Makenzy Doniak, Rice’s Lauren Hughes, Penn State’s Mallory Weber, Furman’s Stephanie DeVita and Arkansas’ Ashleigh Ellenwood, Butler’s Sophia Maccagnone and Alabama State’s Aaliyah Lewis, Dayton’s Ashley Campbell, FGCU’s Tabitha Tindell, Campbell’s Ashley Clark and South Florida’s Olivia Chance. Hats Off: It’s not uncommon for a team to not have a player register a hat trick for an entire season. Leah Galton accomplished that feat in two consecutive games in 2014. Galton scored three goals in Hofstra’s regular-season-ending 4-2 win over Delaware to earn the third seed. All Galton did for an encore was score three goals again in the CAA Tournament quarterfinals against Towson. Those were the first two career hat tricks for Galton. Galton already has one multi-goal game in 2015 when she scored twice versus FDU. Her game-winning goal, the second of the season, gave her 100 career points, joining her with Sam Scolarici as the only two players in program history to crack the century mark. Galton scored three goals in Hofstra’s 2-0 start to CAA play, scoring twice at William & Mary and a key insurance goal at Elon. Jenn Buoncore was named the CAA Freshman of the Week on Oct. 12 and Jill Mulholland earned a share of the CAA Player of the Week award on Oct. 19 following her two-goal effort in a road win at Northeastern. For the season awards, Galton and Jill Mulholland earned All-CAA First-Team honors. The selection was Mulholland’s second and first since her 2012 freshman campaign. It also served to commemorate her first health season since her first year as injuries shortened both her 2013 and 2014 outings. Jeannine Molleda and Madeline Anderson each earned secondteam honors. Molleda is a standout senior midfielder and Anderson is a freshman defender. Junior defender Emily Agudelo made the All-CAA third team and senior midfielder Chloe Dale was the team’s All-Academic pick. Anderson and freshman forward Jenn Buoncore were named to the All-Rookie squad.

Postseason Awards: Hofstra’s Leah Galton fired 11 shots, including five on target, in Hofstra’s 1-0 double-overtime loss to JMU in the CAA Championship semifinals. Jill Mulholland also added six shots as the Pride out-shot the Dukes, 31-9. Both Galton and Mulholland, who were All-CAA First Team selections, were picked to the All-CAA Tournament team. Maddy Impact: Freshman Madeline Anderson has started all 19 games on the back line for the Pride and has helped Hofstra post five shutouts. She also has contributed offensively by scoring three goals and adding an assist, including her first career game-winning goal versus Stony Brook on Sept. 11. Anderson is the only player on the roster to play every single minute for Hofstra this season. Stepping Up: Senior Jeannine Molleda earned a spot on the AllCAA Preseason team following a strong 2014 season in which she played a stellar two-way game and continued to build on her overall game by notching two goals and four assists, including the double-overtime strike in a 5-4 win at Yale. Molleda scored despite Hofstra playing with 10 players following a red card. Buoyed: Freshman Jenn Buoncore has emerged as the third starting forward and has improved her play since Opening Day,

culminating in her first CAA weekly award when she earned Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 13. Buoncore has two goals and five assists for nine points on the season. She ranks tied for third on the team in assists and is tied for fourth in points. She has started 14 of the 18 games in which she has played. Super Sub: Sophomore Katie Gerdes has appeared in all 19 games, including 16 as a reserve and two as a starter and has contributed two goals in giving the Pride a jolt off the bench. The Kings Park, New York, native posted a three points in helping the Pride to a 10-1 weekend road trip through Towson and James Madison. Buoncore scored her first career goal at Towson in a 2-1 overtime win. She followed that up by assisting on Hofstra's only goal – a game-tying strike from Leah Galton in the 84th minute – to help the Pride draw at James Madison, 1-1. Opening Day: Hofstra is 12-12 all-time on Opening Day after falling to No. 6 Penn State, 2-1, in front of 3,175 people in the opener of the PSU Invitational. Hofstra’s last win in an opener came at home in 2012 against the Buckeyes at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Ranked Opponents: Hofstra started the season with two games against ranked opponents for the first time since going up against No. 11 UConn and No. 9 Penn State in back-to-back games in 2008. The Pride faced No .6 Penn State and No. 24 Rutgers in the PSU Invitational and dropped both contests by one-goal margins. Mulholland, a first-team pick in 2012 as a freshman, went down with an injury in the third game of the 2013 season but took a medical redshirt and still will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, encompassing the 2015 and 2016 seasons. She scored her first two goals of the season by finding the net twice in the first 11 minutes in a win over CCSU. Mulholland’s two-goal game was her first since also scoring two versus Indiana State in 2014. Mulholland then added a two-goal game in a 2-1 overtime win at Northeastern on Oct. 16. First Goal: Katie Gerdes came off the bench to score her first career goal in Hofstra’s 2-0 win over Columbia on Aug. 28. Gerdes again scored as reserve to help Hofstra to a whirlwind 5-4 doubleovertime win at Yale on Sept. 4. Gerdes made her first career start in 24 games at Northeastern, starting on defense at full back in place of the injured Mallory Ullrich.

Save And A Beauty: Friederike Mehring picked a clutch time to set a career high in saves by turning aside eight on-target shots against Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament first round on Nov. 14. Mehring’s previous career high for saves was five, last set against Towson on Oct. 9. Mehring made two first-half saves against the Hoyas before notching three in the second half and three in the 20 minutes of overtime. Madeline Anderson’s 66thminute goal was the difference in a 2-1 win as the Pride improved to 9-3 in the all-time series and extended the team’s winning streak in the series to seven games against the Seawolves. Home, Sweet Home: Hofstra is 82-21-8 all-time at Hofstra Soccer Stadium since the facility first opened at the start of the 2003 season. Hofstra has also compiled an impressive 114-26-10 record at home since the start of the 1999 season, when it played at University Field (see chart below). The figures include a win over Towson in 2012 that was played at James M. Shuart Stadium when the Soccer Stadium was unavailable as Hofstra was hosting a presidential debate.
