Cutting Instructions

Cutting

Please note: all strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge. WOF= Width of Fabric • LOF = Length of Fabric

Fabric A (3002-66 Holly – Green), cut: • (3) 3 ⅛” x WOF strips.

Fabric B (3001-04 Medallion – White), cut: • (12) 3 ⅛” x WOF strips. • (16) large triangles using the template. • (8) left small triangles using the template. • (8) right small triangles using the template. Fabric C (3003-66 Dots – Green), cut: • (3) 3 ⅛” x WOF strips.

Fabric D (3001-88 Medallion – Red), cut: • (1) 3 ⅛” x WOF strip. Fabric E (3002-99 Holly – Black), cut: • (1) 3 ⅛” x WOF strip. Fabric F (3003-99 Dots – Black), cut: • (2) 3 ⅛” x WOF strips.

Fabric G (3001-99 Medallion – Black), cut: • (2) 3 ⅛” x WOF strips. • (3) 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 4 ½” x 46 ½” strips. • (3) 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 4 ½” x 44 ½” strips. Fabric H (3004-99 Stripe – Black), cut: • (3) 2” x 36 ½” strips. • (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding

Backing (3002-66 Holly – Green), cut: • (2) 59” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 59” x 63” for the back.

Sewing

Sew using a ¼” seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows.

Block Assembly

1. Sew (1) 3 ⅛” x WOF Fabric B strip and (1) 3 ⅛” x WOF Fabric C strip together, lengthwise, to make (1) BC strip (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (3) BC strips total. Using the template, cut out (18) BC triangles with the C strip at the bottom (Fig. 2).

2. Repeat Step 1 and follow Figure 3 using the fabrics listed below to make the designated number of triangles: Fabric #1 (3) Fabric A (1) Fabric B (1) Fabric B (2) Fabric B (2) Fabric B

3. Sew (3) BC triangles and (3) AB triangles together to make (1) ABC pinwheel (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (6) ABC pinwheels total (Fig. 4). 4. Sew (3) BD triangles and (3) BE triangles together to make (1) BDE pinwheel (Fig. 4). Repeat to make a second BDE pinwheel (Fig. 5). make 6

5. Sew (3) BG triangles and (3) BF triangles together to make (1) BFG pinwheel (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (4) make 4 BFG pinwheels total (Fig. 6).

Quilt Top Assembly

6. Sew (2) ABC pinwheels, (1) BDE pinwheel, (4) Fabric B large triangles, (2) Fabric B left small triangles and (2) Fabric B right small triangles together to make Row one (Fig. 7). Repeat to make Row Three.

8. Sew the four rows, in numerical order, and (3) 2” x 36 ½” Fabric H strips together, alternating them, to make the quilt top (Fig. 9).

9. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 46 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 44 ½” Fabric G strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top (Fig. 10).

Layering, Quilting and Finishing

10. Press the quilt top and 59” x 63” backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.

Binding

11. Cut the ends of the (6) Fabric H binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make (1) continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together.

12. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.
