SUPPORT OUR TROOPS The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 179 will be doing a collection at United Markets on Sat. 13th 10 AM - 5 PM. The Unit sends care packages to the troops serving in Afghanistan. The owner of United Markets, Bill Daniels, [ a veteran] has kindly allowed the unit to have a care package collection on Sat. Sept. 13. We provide the shoppers with lists of items the troops need, they purchase items from the list and toss their items in a bin outside of the store. We collect names of troops, pack the items and mail them to Afghanistan. We are very grateful to the wonderful staff at United Markets. They came- up with the idea of having a sample table, so you can just take items off the table. We have always been given a warm welcome by the staff and have been very touched by their generosity Our unit is in it’s 4th year and has a membership of 30 women devoted to supporting military personal, their families and veterans. We will be packing on Sept. 28th at the historic “log cabin” in Memorial Park, San Anselmo. The “log cabin” is owned and lovingly maintained by the American Legion Post 179. Please come and join us. Together we can show that we will never forget the brave men and women who willingly put themselves in harms way for our freedoms.
