Name: ………………………………………………. Class 4 Homework Information Sheet – Friday 9th October 2015 Hello from Class 4 Ideas to support learning at home This week in English we have been focussing on creating short stories and enriching them by utilising techniques gleaned from other authors i.e. Michael Morpurgo. It has also provided opportunities to practice and sharpen our core English skills. All the pupils wrote conversation poems, producing excellent pieces of work. You could help your child by asking them to describe everyday occurrences. Prompt them to use their 5 senses. What can they see, hear, touch, smell, taste? Further progression can be assisted by asking them to describe how it makes them feel? In Maths we have been working on division, using different formal and informal methods. You could support your child at home by asking them to calculate division of numbers using commonly held items. For example if we have 3 dozen eggs and each person needs 2, how many people can we give eggs to? Homework A small reminder that as part of their homework, children are expected to read for 15 minutes each week night. Please make sure that reading records are signed at least once a week to confirm that daily home reading is taking place and to enable us to know when to change your child’s book. . Class Reporters and Photographers The class now has 2 photographers and 2 reporters who capture and record the learning from the pupil’s viewpoint. These will be published on Class Dojo in their entirety and a selection will appear on the class page of the school website. It will provide you an opportunity to view the learning through your child’s eyes. Questions If you have any questions about what the children will be learning please do not hesitate to come and see me. Appointments can be made through Mrs Colley in the school office or by seeing me when dropping off or collecting your children. Business
