[email protected] Homeless Veterans Housing Update The HACP would like to thank all of you who have expressed an interest in helping us end veteran homelessness by December 2015. There has been an outpouring of support for this effort among all of our landlords and, with your help, we are making strides towards reaching this goal. The HACP issued its first 9 HUDVASH vouchers on November 14th and four of those families have been successfully placed in a permanent home. We have also joined with the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, HUD and local service providers to permanently house homeless veterans through the Veterans Rapid Results Boot Camp. Between August 11 and November 18, 2014, the group provided support services to 326 homeless veterans and assisted 161 homeless veterans into permanent housing. The Boot Camp has just begun its second 100-day effort with hopes of finding permanent homes for even more of our nation’s heros.
2015 HACP Voucher Payment Standards Effective January 1, 2015, the Housing Authority of the City Pittsburgh will be implementing the following Voucher Payment Standards for all new Housing Choice Voucher program contracts. Carbon Monoxide Alarm Standards Beginning January 2015, the HACP will begin enforcing the Carbon Monoxide Alarm Standards Act of 2013. The act requires owners of rental properties to install carbon monoxide alarms in rental units which use fossil-fuel burning heaters or appliances, have working fireplaces, or an attached garage. The alarms must be installed outside of each bedroom and near fossil fuel-burning heaters and fireplaces. Owners are also required to replace any missing or broken alarms prior to the start of each new tenancy, and to ensure that new batteries are installed in each alarm at the start of each new occupancy. The alarms must be in compliance with UL 2034 and should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
