MEDIATHEQUE HOW IT WORKS

Explore the history of cinema in the Mediatheque. Selections from the Walker Art Center’s Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection are now at your fingertips for viewing on the big screen. Use the touchscreen remote to select a film of your choice. Explore the thematic playlists or search by director, title, country, decade, or genre. Your selection is then projected on the Mediatheque screen. Whether your interest is in American or European avant-garde films, animated shorts, or silent-era classics, the Mediatheque offers opportunities for individuals, groups, or classes to guide their own on-demand cinema experience. Open during regular gallery hours.

To continue scholarly research, students and professors will be provided individual access to collection films in the Walker Archives by appointment. Viewing celluloid film prints in the Walker Cinema can also be arranged for groups or scholars. To schedule an appointment or screening, contact [email protected]. ABOUT THE RUBEN/ BENTSON MOVING IMAGE COLLECTION

The Mediatheque provides viewers the option to browse thematic playlists or search for individual films or directors.

The Walker’s Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection was established in 1973 to further the appreciation and scholarly study of the art of film. It serves as a basis for an exploration of cinema’s history and the aesthetic and theoretical properties of the medium. Major support to preserve, digitize, and present the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection is generously provided by the Bentson Foundation.
