A quick answer would be to purchase a necklace extender for those occasions you need a longer necklace. Some jewelry designers (including yours truly) have been known to include chain at the back of the necklace so you can attain several different lengths. Here are a few photos to assist in measurement, and the general ideas for necklace lengths (individual bodies, and necks vary!). We've provided one that you can enter your own measurements for handy reference.
