How to Manage SPAM/Junk Email Overview This article explains how to manage SPAM/Junk email and settings in Outlook and Office 365.
Goal After completing this how-to you will have the necessary knowledge to handle your own SPAM/Junk email.
Junk Folder Messages that the filters believe to 'maybe' be SPAM are sent to your junk folder. You can access your junk folder in Outlook or in OWA (Outlook Web Access - our webmail) Review your junk folder regularly to see if there are any messages that you do not consider to be SPAM in it. There are several ways to deal with messages in the junk folder. Go to the folder and right-click the email in question and go to the 'junk' menu item.

You can also get to these option by selecting the email and going to the 'delete' menu at the top of Outlook.
You can mark an email as 'not junk' and/or tell the system to never block that sender, domain, or group. You can also use this menu to block senders.
Note: The 2 options above are actually built-in to Outlook and are part of Outlook's email protection features. You may find that options you set here are not active in OWA. You may find that some bulk mailings, like email newsletters you subscribe to, or notifications from large companies or social networking sites, end up in your Junk Email folder. If you want those messages to be delivered to your inbox, make sure to add the senders to your Safe Senders List in Outlook or Outlook Web App.

Quarantine Once very 3 days (if you have quarantined messages) you will receive an email from Office365 that contains a listing of any emails that have been quarantined as SPAM. The email will have options for dealing with the quarantined messages. Here is what that email looks like
To access the quarantine outside of the email message go to this site: https://admin.protection.outlook.com/quarantine This is useful if you suspect a message you are waiting on has been quarantined and want to check.
