How to prepare images for an ASTARICKS Card using Paint.NET

Uploading images to an ASTARICKS Card is simple. During the Card creation process the ASTARICKS service automatically optimises your images to fit the image slots in your ASTARICKS Card. We recommend using the automatic service, however if the image positioning and cropping of automatic service is not to your liking you can prepare your images manually by following this step-by-step tutorial.

Preparing business card images – 1 of 3 The superior option For superior results we recommend using the electronic artwork/file that was used to produce your business card. Contact your graphic designer and/or business card producer and ask them to supply you with high resolution JPEG image of your business card placed on a white canvas/art board measuring 1152px X 768px, and ask for the quality setting to be MAXIMUM or set to 100. Also, ask them to lock the aspect ratio and fit the width of the artwork to 1152px and centre the artwork on the canvas. If your business card has information on the back of it, ask for a high resolution JPEG of the back of your card as well!

Preparing business card images – 2 of 3 The scanning option If you can’t get the file used to produce your business cards, you can achieve good results by scanning your business card at 600dpi and then using an image editing software to crop and size it. Keep watching this tutorial for a step-by-step guide on how to do this using Paint.NET image editing software.

Preparing business card images – 3 of 3 The camera option (this should be your last resort!) If you can’t get the file used to produce your business cards and you don’t have a scanner, you can opt to use your camera. Remember, your professional image and brand integrity matters a lot. If you choose to take a photo of your business card with you camera, save your images to you hard drive and follow he steps within this tutorial to assist with cropping and resizing.
