INTRODUCTION If you have a ripped cushion that cannot be removed from the couch, use this guide to learn how to repair the hole and prevent the damage from getting worse.

TOOLS: Upholstery Needle (1) Upholstery Thread (1) Anti-Fray Glue (1) Utility Scissors (1)

Step 1 — How To Repair A Couch Cushion 

Apply a thin layer of the anti-fray glue to both edges of the rip. Let it dry completely.



Fold the edges of the fabric over to make a clean edge and hide any fraying.



Crease the fold with your fingers.

Step 3 

Cut the upholstery thread to a length appropriate for the size of your rip.

 The thread should match the color of the fabric as closely as possible. 

Thread the needle and tie a double knot at the end.

Step 4



Hold the two edges of the rip together



Begin sewing ¾ of an inch from where the rip begins.

 You might want to use a pin to hold the edges together while you sew

Continue sewing until you are past the rip. Knot and cut the excess thread.
