Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention our performance off the course with another excellent year in the classroom. We had 10 Dean’s Lists honors this season, and once again will be competing for the top GPA for Men’s Golf in the Conference. We will also be adding another 4 Academic AllAmericans to our history! Hello Tiger Golf Family! The season has come to an end and it has been a very successful year for your team. We finished the year with 2 team titles and 3 individual titles to our name and with a final ranking of 39th in the nation, which ties our best ranking over the last 25 plus years. Much of the season success can be attributed to Thomas Perrot and Lars van Meijel, who went on historic runs and achieved accolades that are unprecedented in our program. Thomas captured 2 individual victories and was named to the All-Conference team for the American Athletic Conference. Lars had 1 individual victory and led the team in stroke average this season; he was also named to the All-Conference team for the American Athletic Conference. Lars was also named to the European side of the Arnold Palmer Cup team, one of only 20 players in the country. Both of these young men will have a chance to be All-Americans, which would be the first since the 80’s! On the back of these two great Tigers we were able to finish Runner-Up at the American Athletic Conference Championship. We ended our year with a birth into the NCAA Regional Championship which was hosted in Kohler, WI. After a slow start we fired the second low round of the event in the final round to finish just outside of qualifying for NCAA Finals. While certainly disappointed to not be at the Finals, we did see the program back in post-season and with our best opportunity for Finals since 2012.
These achievements are the result of hours of work and commitment to excellence in all areas of student life. These achievements are also the direct result of support from our community and stakeholders. Funds raised through the Tiger Club allow us the opportunity to provide the necessary support so that our athletes can compete at the highest level. Operating a top tier program is extremely competitive and staying with large programs is paramount to attracting quality talent. Every dollar raised has a direct impact and makes you a prominent member of our team. Thank you for all you have done for our program and we will continue to strive to put forth a product that makes you proud to be a Tiger Golf Supporter!
