Timeline for Supplemental Disaster Relief Recommendations November 1 November
First meeting of the Hurricane Matthew Recovery Committee. Preliminary damage assessments completed. State Emergency Response Task Force continues to operationalize programs and identify needs unmet by existing federal programs.
November 14
Governor McCrory formally submits North Carolina’s request for supplemental federal disaster assistance to the delegation as Congress returns to work.
Week of November 14
The Hurricane Matthew Recovery Committee begins region wide tour to engage stakeholders. The first meeting will be held in Lumberton.
Week of December 5
The Hurricane Matthew Recovery Committee continues to develop recommendations to address remaining unmet needs with state and private funds. Congress appropriates supplemental disaster assistance for North Carolina.
Late November/ Early December

Following appropriation of the supplemental federal disaster recovery assistance package, Governor McCrory submits supplemental state disaster assistance package recommendations to the General Assembly and calls a special session. Governor McCrory signs the Hurricane Matthew Recovery Act. Legislation to fund disaster recovery efforts, modify school calendar laws, and make other omnibus changes to law as necessary to implement recovery.
