Venue: The race is held at Magruder Park in Hyattsville, MD – the city’s major park facility. It is located at 40th Avenue and Hamilton St. and covers 32 acres. Parking: Parking is located next to the park in the large lot just off Hamilton St. Parking will not be allowed in Magruder Park on race day as the Park will be closed to motor vehicle traffic. Contact the Race Director (see “Contacts,” below) for information regarding team tent logistics.
The Event: Hyattsville CX is a BikeReg Cyclocross Super Series event. Consult the table above to select a field appropriate for your USA Cycling Cyclocross category and/or Racing Age. NOTE: Racing Age is computed as the rider’s age on Dec. 31st, 2018. The event is held under USA Cycling permit #2017-2447. Professional chip timing by Race Works Gruppetto. Prizes will be awarded as soon as possible after each event. Please remain near the podiums following your race if you place. Results posting will be announced; the standard 15-minute protest period commences upon posting. Registration & Licensing: online pre-registration will be available at BikeReg.com. BikeReg assesses a service charge for online registration. Race day registration will be available at Magruder Park. For riders who do not preregister, a day-of surcharge (over and above the amount listed in the table) will be assessed for the first entry purchased; the surcharge will be $10 for adults and $5 for Juniors. For riders who pre-register for their first race, additional pre-registered entries purchased in the same transaction are priced at $15 (Juniors) and $20 (Adults). Check-in, sales and day-of registration open at 7:00 AM and close 30 minutes before the scheduled start of each race. U19 Men and Women may race in any class they qualify for by Cyclocross category, but remain eligible for the Junior entry fee, with the day-of surcharge applied as appropriate. Any current National Cyclocross Champions shall be granted free entry, but must wear their national jersey in the class in which it was won. A USA Cycling racing license is required for entry. Riders who have never held a USAC Annual license may purchase a 1-Day license for $10 on race day; if you will need one, please note "ONE DAY" in the license area at BikeReg when you register. A 1-Day license is valid for entry only in fields that are open to Cat. 5 Men or Women. For all other fields, you must present a current USAC license (or a printed Authorization to Ride) showing your Cyclocross category and Racing Age. Series Points: Super 8 Series points are awarded for Series ranking to the following Super 8 Series fields – Men Cat. 1/2/3; Women Cat. 1/2/3; Men Cat. 3; Men Cat. 4; Women Cat. 3; Women Cat. 4; Master Men 40+ Cat 1/2/3; Master Men 40+ Cat. 3/4/5; Master Men 50+ Cat. 1/2/3/4; Master Men 60+ Cat. 1/2/3/4/5; Master Women 45+ Cat. 1/2/3/4; Singlespeed Men Cat. 1/2/3/4/5; Singlespeed Women Cat. 1/2/3/4/5; and all Junior fields. Men Cat. 5 and Women Cat. 4/5 are not ranked. See the BikeReg Cyclocross Super Series website for complete rules and regulations for series points. Staging: All riders are staged in order of their assigned bib number. As Hyattsville CX is the first race of the 2017 BikeReg Cyclocross Super Series, bibs for fields eligible for Super Series points will be assigned by the prior year’s standings, either in the 2016 Super 8 Series or in Cross Results as specified in the Super Series Technical Guide. Unranked riders will be assigned bibs by registration date & time. For the Men Cat. 5 and Women Cat. 4/5 fields, all riders will be assigned bibs by registration date & time. Race day entries will be assigned remaining bib numbers on a first come, first served basis, and are not entitled to special treatment based on their 2016 Super 8 Series or CrossResults ranking. Staging Procedure: Riders will fill the starting grid by bib number, 8 riders at a time, as specified in the USA Cycling Cyclocross rulebook when so directed by the officials; the officials will fill any gaps left by DNS or late-arriving riders as appropriate. ALL RIDERS MUST ASSEMBLE IN THE PRE-STAGING CHUTE NO LATER THAN 10 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR START! Riders arriving late to staging will be staged at the back of the starting grid.
Lil Belgians Kids' Races: Lil Belgians Kids' Races are FREE races for kids ages 9 and under. All kids get a medal! Helmets are required; a parent or legal guardian must be present to co-sign a waiver. No racing license required. Space is limited to 50 riders -- pre-register online at BikeReg.com to guarantee your spot. Amenities: We will have at least two food trucks for the day: Hardy’s BBQ and LA Pearl Belgian Waffles. Kids will enjoy the bounce house and the playgrounds. In addition, the race venue is in close proximity to a number of great restaurants on U.S. Route 1 in Hyattsville.
