I Found the Nine Patch a.k.a. Disappearing Nine Patch
Supply List This can be either a very scrappy or quite organized quilt top – which ever you chose, it’s very fun. Choosing scrappy or not, will dictate your fabric choices, as well as the size. In addition to your machine, rotary cutter, mat, and other quilting and sewing notions, please bring your fabrics, based on the following: Charm Packs (5” squares) work great for the Nine Patch blocks. If you use a charm pack, it will be very scrappy, and you may want to supplement with yardage. (You’ll probably want some any way for borders.) Two Charm Packs (usually 45 pieces) - 5” squares will do nicely for an approximately 45 x 45” top (no borders). If you choose a bigger top, add another Charm Pack (or supplement with yardage). I used yardage, but still went with 5” squares for the nine patch. The sample has seven fabrics, letting me pick and choose where I wanted the different ones - it’s pretty organized! For a 45 x 45” top, figure you’ll get about 8 squares for each 6” of fabric. I got 1/3 yard of 6 different fabrics, plus 2/3 yard of a seventh fabric - I used it for the borders. Have fun with your fabric choices . . . this is a super easy quilt with tons of possibilities. If you have questions, please give me a call – I look forward to seeing you in class.
