CASEY SHAW

Former NBA and Euroleague Pro; 2nd Round NBA Draft Pick; University of Toledo Hall of Fame

Casey Shaw, a graduate of the University of Toledo, was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 1998 NBA draft, and had a very successful 11 year professional basketball career in Europe.

While at the University of Toledo, Casey was a two time captain, named second team AllMAC (Mid-American Conference) in 1996-97 and 1997-98, and made the MAC All Freshman team in 1994-95. He also was an outstanding student, earning third-team Academic All-America honors as a senior in 199798, and making the Academic All-MAC team in his junior and senior seasons.

9.0 rebounds as a junior and 14.2 points and 10.0 rebounds as a senior. He ranks second in UT history with 107 blocked shots and sixth in field goal percentage (.546). He is married to former UT women’s basketball player and Varsity ‘T’ Hall of Famer Dana Drew-Shaw and they have 4 children.

Shaw ranks sixth all-time at UT with 1,562 points and fifth with 871 rebounds. He led Toledo in scoring and rebounds twice, with 16.3 points and

Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

A graduate of Slippery Rock University, Coach Schuett majored in Special Education and was a member of the Rock Women’s Basketball Team. Following graduation, Coach Schuett spent eight years on the East Coast teaching and coaching in Maryland and Virginia in the public school league. During that time, Coach Schuett was instrumental in sending fourteen student-athletes

into college basketball at various Universities and Colleges while earning a Master’s degree in Special Education herself from George Mason University. In 2009, Coach Schuett returned home to Illinois and is currently serving as the Lead Teacher in Special Education at St. Charles East High School. With the support of the ICCP Boys Basketball program and the Elmhurst Community, Coach Schuett and her team has raised more that $15,000 the past four years for the Illinois Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Coach at IC Catholic Prep. Named Illinois Basketball Coach’s Association 2A District 7 Coach of the Year, the 2013-2014 team is coming off of the most successful girls basketball season in school history. Winning back to back Conference Championships, the Lady Knights earned a 2A Final Four State birth by winning Regional, Sectional, and Super-Sectional Championships. Returning two starters from last season’s squad, Coach Schuett looks to experience off the bench to fill starting roles as expectations for the 2014-2015 season remain high.

Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Tyrrell, who has served as a coach in the ICCP basketball program since 2002, is also an alumnus of the Class of 1997. He has coached at all levels since rejoining his alma mater. Coach Tyrrell finished his 2nd season as varsity head coach with a 23-7 record which included a Conference Championship, Regional Championship & Class 2A Sweet 16 appearance. He was selected as the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association District Coach of the Year. In his first two seasons he holds a 45-13 overall record. Tyrrell led the Knights to back to back to back conference Championships for the first time in school history.

A standout player and student during his years at ICHS, Tyrrell went on to play at Dominican University, where he earned Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference Academic All-Conference honors (2000-2001) and was named an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-Region Academic Scholar Athlete (1999-2000). He was also voted Dominican Basketball’s “Mr. Star” in 2001, which is an award given by the coaches and teammates to the person who best exemplifies leadership, dedication, sportsmanship and hard

work both on and off the court.
