[email protected] ILLINOIS HARLEY-DAVIDSON HOSTS ADOPT-A-PET EVENT Harley-Davidson Dealership Partners With Local Shelters to Combat Animal Abuse and Neglect Countryside, IL – August 01, 2013 – On Sunday, July 28, Illinois Harley-Davison hosted a pet adoption event aiming to find homes for dogs, cats, and ferrets from 11 area rescue and adoption centers. The first-of-itskind event brought together Harley-Davidson and pet shelter staff, volunteers, friends, and pet owners-to-be for three hours of good will, food and drink, and merriment. “It’s really rewarding not just to give [the animals] a home, but also to create a relationship with the adopters,” said Angie Dominguez, Feline Programs Coordinator at Magnificent Mutts Rescue. Dominguez, a three-year veteran of the organization, says finding safe homes can be a juggling act, but ultimately is well worth the effort. “We screen all adopters to make sure they are a good fit for the animals. It is sometimes hard to see them go, but we remind ourselves that every adoption opens space for new animal to be saved. This is what you have to keep in mind.” Magnificent Mutts found homes for three dogs and four kittens at the event. Also in attendance were All Herding Breed Dog Rescue of Illinois, the Greater Chicago Ferret Association, Disaster Dogs Dog Rescue, A Caring Place Humane Society, Homes for Huskies-Siberian Husky Rescue, It's A Pittie Rescue, Hinsdale Humane Society, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus, and Good As Gold. Discounted microchipping services were provided by Starfish Animal Rescue. All participating rescue centers received pet food and supplies, compliments of Illinois Harley-Davidson customers and staff.
