WINDCREST We will continue to participate in the Nine and Wine events at Windcrest. These events are usually held on the first Saturday of each month. NINE AND WINE
SAN PEDRO NINE AND WINE will resume at SAN PEDRO on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:00 PM. Until the time changes we will be playing under the lights. This will continue every Wednesday evening until Summer League starts in May or early June. If we are unable to play due to the weather, we will meet inside for Happy Hour and Simulator practice. This is a FUN Par 3 Course. A variety of formats will be played.

In 2017 members had the opportunity to participate in Driving Range Practice/Lessons. Several members also participated in a clinic and 9 Holes held by the TEXAS STATE GIRLS GOLF TEAM at Plum Creek. We hope to have the opportunity to do that again this year.
Mark Your Calendar TOURNAMENT 101 REBECCA CREEK March 24 - Time TBD This is a great opportunity for those who have never played in a tournament or for those members who want to freshen up their tournament skills. The event will start with a Rules Meeting followed by tournament play. Experienced tournament players are needed to help mentor those participating. Hopefully this will give you the confidence to consider playing in our Chapter Championship on May 5 at Canyon Springs. SUMMER LEAGUE Summer League will start sometime in May or early June and will be held on Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00 PM. It will alternate between Northern Hills and the Republic. These are 9 hole events. A variety of formats will be used.
Mark Your Calendar CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP May 5 - Time TBD All EWGA San Antonio members are invited to participate in our CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP. The EWGA Championship offers two different competitive formats: Stroke Play Competition and Team Scramble Competition. You select the competitive format that best fits your game, personality and skill level. You need to have a verifiable USGA handicap index in order to participate. Stroke Play competition is flighted so you will be competing against members who have similar handicaps. There is a Low Gross Winner and a Low Net Winner in each flight. Flight Winners and the winning Scramble Team will advance to the EWGA Semi Finals on July 14 at Canyon Springs.

PACE OF PLAY TIPS We will be emphasizing this in early 2018. 1. Minimize your time on the tee. Play READY GOLF. If you think your ball may be lost play a provisional. 2. Plan your shot before you get to your ball. Think ahead. 3. Keep your pre-shot routine short. One practice swing should be sufficient in most cases. 4. Develop an eye for distance. Look for yardage markers if you do not have a range finding device. It is OK to give yardage to others in your group. 5. When sharing a cart use the buddy system. Walk to your ball while your cart partner is hitting if your ball is close. 6. Be helpful to others in your group. Follow the flight of all tee shots. 6. Keep up with group in front of you. 7. Be efficient on the putting green. Line up your putt while others are putting. 8. Picking up your ball is permitted in non-competitive play. Pick up at double par or your max if you have a handicap.
