CEDAR RIDGE SCHOOL DISTRICT Mr. Andy Ashley, Superintendent 1502 North Hill Street Newark, AR 72562 870-799-8691 INCLEMENT WEATHER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE Dear Parent, Winter weather should arrive soon, and I want you to be informed of our procedures in the event of inclement weather. Our first concern will be the safety of the children; our second concern will be the consideration of the work schedules of the parents. The procedures for announcements of school closing due to inclement weather and road conditions will be as follows: 1. All announcements will be made through School Messenger (our telephone notification system) and the local media as soon as possible. Please tune to KWOZ – 103.3; KZLE – 93.1; KFIN – 107.9; KIYS – 101.9; KAIT Channel 8 TV; KARK Channel 4; KATV Channel 7; and KTHV Channel 11 for announcements. The school district’s website will also include updates on school closings and/or cancellations: http://www.cedarwolves.org. Please do not call the school offices or homes of staff members. 2. Should the weather require that we dismiss school before the buses run in the morning we will make an announcement through School Messenger and contact the media before 6:15 a.m. 3. If the announcement can be made on the previous day, we will do so prior to 10:00 p.m. 4. We may have a delayed start of school when the weather is questionable. 5. Should inclement weather conditions develop during the school day, we will make an announcement on School Messenger and notify the media of the time school will be dismissed, and post it on the district’s web site. 6. On occasion it may be necessary to run only safe bus routes, known as snow routes. The snow routes are provided on the back of this letter. Bad weather, dangerous road conditions, and student transportation during those conditions are serious concerns for both parents and school districts. We will always keep your children’s safety foremost in our decisions. Your support and understanding will be appreciated. Sincerely,

Mr. Andy Ashley Superintendent Note: If you do not receive a call or text from School Messenger please contact Shelly Hendrix at 799-8691, ext. 208 and provide contact information.
