Indigo On the Go! A new take on the ancient art of Shibori

“Shibori” is a term that encompasses many different methods of dyeing patterns into cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing, using an unexpected set of tools as “resists.” While the roots of Shibori are predominantly from Japan, many cultures have put their own twist on things. Now you can learn a modern and fresh approach to these ancient techniques, and create your own collection of beautiful cotton Shibori fabrics. Along with our modern take on tools and techniques, we will also take a fresh look at Indigo dye. Hands On Hand Dyes will provide each student with their own set of reusable Shibori tools, dye, fixatives, detergent, instructions, and ample 100 % “PFD” fabric to explore each of the Shibori methods learned. This is a technique driven class that provides tons of inspiration!
