A Note from Mrs Head–15th April 2016 I can't believe that I am writing to you at the end of my first week as your new Headteacher already - the week has flown by. Thank you for making me feel so welcome, I have thoroughly enjoyed the first five days at NAIS! I have had the chance to spend time with the children in assemblies, given out CLIC stickers and badges and wandered around the classes! The children have certainly been doing some great learning this week! I have seen chocolatiers in Year 2, some boat designing in Year 1 and heard about Places, Pets and Plants in Year R. I can't wait to see what else the children find out on their current Learning Adventures! Thank you to those of you who have smiled and said 'Hello' to me in the playground - it's been great to meet you. It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible at the 'Meet the new Headteacher' sessions on Monday 18th April at 2.15pm and 9am on Wednesday 27th April. I look forward to seeing you there. This term our School Improvement Priorities (the key things that we will be developing in school over the coming months) are: * Opportunities for me to get to know our school and all it's stakeholders really well * Transition for the children- into, within and on from our school

* Developing our environment inside the school, so that it effectively promotes our CLIC vision and values * Developing opportunities for writing and writing provision in all year groups VVV I hope you have been able to take advantage of the beautiful weather we have seen this week! Fingers crossed for lots more sunshine! Have a great weekend - remember there is learning in everything we do.

DATES FOR ALL Mon 18th Apr Afternoon tea with Mrs Head 2.15pm Thurs 21st Apr Kings and Queens Medieval Banquet Wed 27th Apr Coffee morning with Mrs Head 9.00am

Our Queen is 90! A reminder that Thursday 21st April is the Queen's 90th birthday and we will be celebrating this milestone event in school. The children are invited to come dressed as Kings, Queens or other characters associated with the royal family. We will be having a banquet in school as well as taking part in a number of activities related to the Queen and her life. As part of this we will be taking part in a competition through The Radio Times to design a birthday card for the Queen. I wonder if Netley Abbey Infants could produce a winning entry?!

WOW! A big thank you to the Friends of Netley Abbey Infant School for organising the sponsored read last term. A huge well done to all those children who took part and to all those family members and friends who sponsored the children. We raised an amazing £813.80 . Usborne books have then contributed £488.28, which means we have a fabulous £1302.08 to spend on Usborne books. Mrs Cobb is already planning how to spend the money!
