Here is an unsolicited email I received yesterday from a family on holiday in Robin Hood’s Bay: ‘If you have a group of Year 6 pupils on a trip to near Robin Hoods Bay I would like to praise the wonderful, polite and pleasant children we met when rock pooling. A credit to you all. We would like to wish them all the best with their move in September and for their future.’ Louise and Family. Thank you Year 6 – you are a credit…to your school, your families and your community. Friday is Games Day—this means pupils can bring into school a game to play with their friends. No single player games and nothing too precious or valuable please. The idea is to give pupils the opportunity to play games in pairs or small groups with their classmates. We cannot allow pupils to plug anything into a mains socket. Mini-allotment Warning! – the school windows and doors are being painted over the summer. Unfortunately this means that scaffolding towers will be used in the allotment area. We are sure the decorators will take care to minimise the damage to plants but inevitably there will be some. Reply Slips for Reports – we are still short of a few reply slips. Please keep them coming in, we value your comments and need to know the reports have arrived! Letter from Rushcliffe School—everyone in Years 3, 4 and 5 should have received a letter from Rushcliffe School yesterday confirming their commitment to Ruddington and reassuring us that they have no plans to change their catchment area…despite rumours to the contrary! Leadership Restructure—Over the last 3 years our school has grown from 230 to over 320 pupils, 8 classes to 12. As a result from September 2016 Vanessa Foulds and Caroline Houghton will take up Assistant Headship posts. Congratulations to them both. Reading Challenge—Any pupil who can present their Reading Challenge Certificate in September will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 voucher. Next Year’s After School Clubs– please see the school website for proposed updates. Letters will be available in September. Consultation on the Draft Ruddington Village Plan—See how the Village Plan is taking shape and help us resolve some outstanding issues. Drop in sessions at St Peter’s Rooms on Friday 22nd July 4.00pm – 8.00pm & Saturday 23rd July 10am – 2.00pm. We’re trying to shape how facilities and services for residents develop over the next 10 years, so the more input we have from parents the better. Gavin Walker, Chairman, Ruddington Village Plan Steering Group So that is it for another year. This year’s final newsletter. For those of you off to Secondary School, please take our sincerest best wishes, we know you will continue to do yourselves proud. We understand that earlier this week the Year 7 awards ceremony at Rushcliffe School was packed with St Peter’s Pupils and we know that you will ensure the same happens again next year. For those staying with us, have a great holiday, stay safe and prepare yourself for another year of excitement and learning in September.
