INFORMATION GUIDE Saturday, February 18th and Sunday, February 19th Girls 13s – 18s The Directors and members of Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club welcome you to the 2017 President’s Day Spectacular. Our goal is to make this early season event an opportunity for your teams to play a variety of competition. You will have a chance to play teams that are better than you, to give you a chance to see what your team needs to do to improve. You will play teams that are less experienced than you, to give you a chance to work on new strategies, plays, etc. And, finally you will compete against teams that are close to your level to see how it all works. We hope that you will experience some great competition, see some old friends and make some new ones as well. We want to also thank our hosts at Woodside Sports Complex. We hope the partnership between our two groups, who value customer service, make your experience worthwhile. We want this event to be one that you will look forward to each year. If you experience any problems, either with housing or the event, please let us know. We value your participation and if it is in our control, we will make it right.

Check-in times are as follows: All Teams Friday (2/17) 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. or Saturday (2/18) 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m AES rosters will be used for check-in. Webpoint rosters are also acceptable. Coaches will need to verify the roster including uniform numbers. Each player is required to wear the same jersey number throughout the entire event. This applies to all players in the libero position as well. Once play begins, no roster additions will be allowed. Only individuals on the roster are permitted to sit on the team bench. Age Waivers - Teams with age waivered players are allowed in this event. Teams with age-waivered players must inform the Tournament Director at Check-In. The Head Coach needs to either have a Webpoint roster (with the waivered player on it) or proof of grade and a copy of a birth certificate to verify eligibility.

Forms Required at Team Check-In The Team Rep, Head Coach or Club Director must check-in their team prior to competition. You will be required to turn in a “JVA Coaches Event Sign-In Form”. This form simply states that the coach has in their possession a copy of the JVA Participant Release of Liability Form and the JVA Release and Medical Form (the USAV Medical Release and Waiver Form is also acceptable). These forms can be found on the Milwaukee Sting Website (www.milwaukeesting.com) Hosted Events/Presidents Day Spectacular page Teams will NOT be allowed to begin warm-ups until the team has been checked-in. We will check-in teams on a first-come, first-serve basis, giving priority to age groups playing in the morning wave. Insurance and Sanctioning Information The 2017 Milwaukee Sting Presidents’ Day Spectacular is insured by the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA). The JVA insurance allows teams of any affiliation to participate whether they are USAV, AAU or non-affiliated. More information on the JVA can be found at the end of this booklet. The cost of insurance is included with your team entry fee.

There will not be a Coaches Meeting prior to competition.

Seeding Teams were seeded using the best information we could find including results posted on AES. Seeds were then adjusted to afford as many teams as possible an opportunity to compete against teams from outside their own region. Rules of Play The 2015-2017 USA Volleyball Regulations for Domestic Competition will be in effect. RULES OF PLAY and JVA Adaptations All competition sanctioned by the JVA is governed by the current edition of the USA Volleyball Domestic Competition Regulations, with the following adaptation: 1) Team Captains will be allowed to call a time out

Officials and Team Officiating Responsibilities The Head Official will schedule a First Referee for each match. Work teams will need to provide a Second Referee, Official Scorer, Visual Scorer, Libero Tracker and 2 Line Judges. An adult on the official roster needs to be courtside at all times. The work team needs to report to the First Referee no later than the beginning of the serving team’s warm-up. For each minute the work team is late or incomplete, one point will be given to their next opponent (up to 25-0 forfeit). Match Format / Warm-up Procedures All warm-ups will be 2 minutes shared, 4 minutes for each team (serving team is first). Once each team has played, succeeding warm-ups will be 4-4 (4 minutes for each team beginning with the serving team). Teams must serve within their court time. All divisions will be match play, unless there is a 3-team pool without a cross over match due to an uneven number of teams in a division. That pool will play all three sets to 25 points. Pool finish will be based on set percentage, as all 3 sets will count for finish placement. While this is not our recommended format, there are times where it is completely unavoidable.

Event Schedule / Results Milwaukee Sting will be using the AES Results Management System to provide as up to the minute results as possible. Schedule information and results can be found at www.AdvancedEventSystems.com AES Express is an App that is available for your mobile device or tablet. It is only $1.99 for I-phones or Androids. There is free WiFi at the Woodside Center. There will be no search computers available. If you do not have a device to access event information, please stop at the Tournament Desk and the staff there will be happy to help you out.

Tie Breakers – DO NOT LEAVE THE DOME AFTER POOL PLAY UNTIL YOU KNOW THE RESULTS OF YOUR POOL The Tie Breaker Procedure outlined below will only be enforced in the event of a 3-way tie in which one of the teams would be eliminated from moving into the Gold Division. For all 2-way ties, the team that won the pool play match (head to head) between the two teams tied for position will take the higher position. · 3-way ties for non-gold division placement will be decided by the following CRITERIA: - Match %: matches won divided by matches played - Set %: sets won divided by sets played - Point %: points scored divided by the total points scored by the teams opponents in that pool - Coin Flip · 3-way ties for teams all moving onto gold division placement will be decided with CRITERIA above · 3-way ties for 1st place, with 2 teams moving into the Gold/Championship Division - The team with the greater set %/point % (as described in the CRITERIA above) shall be awarded first place. The other two teams shall play one 15-point set for the remaining playoff position. The team that wins the playoff set will be awarded 2nd, the loser will be awarded 3rd. The team that was awarded first will provide the work team for the play-off. · 3-way ties for 2nd place, with 2 teams moving into the Gold/Championship Division - The teams will be seeded using the CRITERIA above. The team seeded 1st will be the bye team and play the winner of the set between the two remaining teams. The team that was seeded 1st will provide the work team for the 1st playoff set. The loser of the 1st playoff set, will be the work team for the 2nd playoff set. · If, due to formatting, there are any other tie scenarios, the procedure outlined in the USAV 2015-2017 Rule Book, page 245-246, will be followed.

**If one of the teams in a 3-way tied pool leaves the site before the determination that a tie-break is necessary, that team will automatically become the lowest placed team (among the teams that are tied) and the remaining 2 teams will play one tie-breaking set to 25 if needed, with a work team to be assigned. Awards The winning team in each Gold Division will get their entry fee returned. A team award and medals will be awarded to teams that finish 1st and 2nd in the Gold Division. A team award will be awarded to all teams that place 1st in the Silver, Bronze & Copper Divisions.
