WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY GROUP Kalypso Innovation Competition MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

JANUARY 2015

In 2013 the Kalypso Women in Technology (WIT) group became sponsor of a student association from Tec de Monterrey. Such association is called MenTe (acronym for Mujeres en Tecnología in Spanish, which literally means Women in Technology). This student council is formed of students of IT Engineering Majors and Computer Science engineering. This document serves to amend the agreement between both parties for the Kalypso Innovation Competition (KIC). Kalypso agrees to host an annual Kalypso Innovation Competition along with MenTe. Prize funds will be awarded to female IT students who have demonstrated superior leadership, innovation qualities, IT knowledge, and invested time and service to ITESM. The annual scholarship distribution goal is defined as two $1,000 USD Innovation Prizes and two $1500 USD Innovation Prizes. The distribution of these prizes is made through Stelos Alliance representatives. Additional criteria for the recipients follow:    

Classification as a junior or senior IT or other Computer Science related major female attending TEC Minimum of 80 Average Minimum TOEFL score of 550 on PBT or 79 on IBT Fulfillment of all deliverables/requirements: resume, essay and podcast (Please refer to Section Deliverables)

A committee will conduct participant evaluations; such committee is formed with by members representing Stelos Alliance and Kalypso Monterrey Technical center. This committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to review the applications. Funds approved for distribution from the endowment in a year may only be expended for the purposes of the endowment in that year. This fund is fixed and prizes may not be awarded or may encounter modifications in distribution if neither candidate applications are deemed fit for the award.

KIC- CONTEST DETAILS

Mission KIC mission is to annually reward excellence in innovation and academics to Tec de Monterrey female students in undergraduate IT Engineering Programs. Through this initiative, we aim to increase Kalypsos’ visibility at Tec de Monterrey Campus and establish relationships with exceptional Tec de Monterrey students, so that upon graduation, they consider Kalypso as their preferred employer. Targeted audience:  Undergraduate IT or other Computer Science related major female are the prospect.  We will limit our applicants to women, because it is believed that this demographic is currently under-represented at Kalypso.

Allocated Prizes by target segment The application is aimed to two groups: Juniors (female IT engineers in 5th to 7th semester) and Seniors (female IT engineers in 8th or 9th semester). SEMESTER

Prizes will be directly awarded to selected recipients at the end of the semester. In order for the KIC winners to receive the check prize, students must accept an Internship Opportunity during the summer break of the year in transition. The full-time internship is expected to be eight to ten weeks in duration between May 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015.

Calendar The KIC promotion on campus will be done by student organization MenTe, which is precisely the group we are targeting: female IT major students who have extra leadership and campus participation skills and profile. The following suggested calendar allows time for students to prepare for the KIC and may encounter modifications as needed. 

March 6th – March 27th Applications are reviewed and the Kalypso selection committee selects recipients

April 7th Prize winners are notified via email of their award. Award letter and invitation to be sent

April 10th Student decision to accept prize and RSVP ceremony

April 17th Semester Prize award ceremony will be held at a local venue in honor of the recipients. MenTe associates, Kalypso WIT, and Innovation Prize winners will attend the ceremony. All required documents and payment handed to awardee. Additionally this event allows the Kalypso team to get to know applicants and discuss the internship opportunities

COMPETITION DETAILS As stated in the calendar of the above section, applicants will make a pre-application. We will accept applications from: -

Female students classified as full time sophomores or juniors in an undergraduate IT major o As students are allowed to course subjects outside of their physical semester on campus, the semester will be determined on a case to case basis evaluating the Tarjeta Plan (FAM) letter required for the application

Student must have an overall ITESM GPA of 80/100 o Concerning applicants referred by facility with GPA’s less than 80 will be considered on a case-bycase basis. Taking into account their participation in student activities

Students must prove a TOEFL test with minimum 0f 550 points

Pre-Application All documents required for the pre-application must be sent to the email address [email protected] along with the following form in PDF format. Monterrey office will perform the applicant profile scan and will notify the applicants that they have been accepted and may submit their deliverables (podcast and essay). Eligible Applicants After the initial screening and approval, eligible applicants will be notified via email that they can continue with the next rounds.

DELIVERABLES After the online application and the applicant receives an email of acceptance, the contestant may go ahead and submit the following deliverables:

Essay -

Must be doubled spaced and typed in a 12 font

Podcast In two minute or less answer the following three questions in a podcast. Must not exceed 2 min (no minimum time)  

Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to study an IT major Tell us how you demonstrate leadership on your daily activities and what would you use the prize money for

SELECTION METHOD The selection committee for the Kalypso Innovation Competition shall consist of the following members:    

Mariana Santos- Women in Technology Lead at Kalypso Monterrey Selvia Montemayor – Kalypso Monterrey Operations Melinda Keller & Reagan Pugh- Stelos and Kalypso Marketing Team Associates Technical associates (Appointed every semester) o Technical Manager from Kalypso USA o Senior Developer from Kalypso Monterrey

The selection committee shall have full responsibility for reviewing each application, establishing the eligibility of each applicant and deciding who shall receive the scholarship. The committee shall select the recipient of the prize based upon a majority vote by the total membership of the committee. The Women in Technology Lead, along with the Head of Monterrey Operations shall have the responsibility and honor of presenting this prize to the recipients.

Rubric The pre-application filter will go first through the Monterrey Technical Center and will narrow down the list of eligible applicants. Factors this office will be checking are: -

Extra points In the event of a tie, the resume shall play an important role in deciding who portrays the characteristics we would like in a Kalypsonian.

Internship offering criteria The availability of internships will be evaluated every semester and offered during the summer break. There will be 4 interns every summer. The availability will depend on internal projects, client site opportunities and may be delayed up to September-October.

AWARD CEREMONY Semester Prize award ceremony will be held at a local venue in honor of the recipients. MENTE associates, Kalypso women, and Innovation Prize winners will attend the ceremony. All required documents and payment handed to awardee. Additionally this event allows the Kalypso team to get to know applicants and discuss possible internship opportunities
