Installation Tips for Hanging Your Freedom Gallery Before hanging your gallery, decide if you are going to use secure fasteners or just hang the paintings using the wires on the backs. If you use secure fasteners you will need to remove the wires from the backs of the frames. Secure fasteners are suggested for high traffic areas or where young children may knock the gallery pieces from the wall. Getting Started: Measure the wall and map out how you want to hang your gallery. We suggest you place the storyboards at eye-level for the people who will be reading them. You can butt them up against each other or spread them out. We suggest you keep each storyboard close to the painting or document it is describing.

Install hangers on each side of frame about 2” from top. When using wood screws, holes should be pre-drilled to avoid splitting wood. For metal frames, insert #10 set screws in threaded holes, place in frame channel, and tighten. Measure approximate distance between hanger eyes, D.

Install two anchors into 5/16” holes in wall at desired height, separated by the distance, D, from Step 1. Thread T-screws into anchors until about 3/8” of screw is left exposed. Align the “T” so that it is vertical.

Slip the hanger eyes over each of the T-screws.

Insert a small wrench onto the T-screw and rotate the screw 1/4 turn until the “T” is horizontal.

Level the picture by gently lifting a corner if the frame and turning adjuster with finger. There is no need to remove the picture from the wall to make adjustments.

CAUTION: Make certain that the wall will hold the full weight of the frame.

Tools you will need: Drill with 5/16 drill bits (masonry bits if you are drilling into brick or block), driver attachment for your drill to make the screwing go a lot faster (or you can use a screwdriver if you don’t have one), a card-board box to use as a table top while you are mounting the hangers on the frames or plaques (this helps to not scratch the front of the frame or plaque), a hammer to pound in the mollies and a crescent wrench to turn the T-bolt. Hanging the gallery goes pretty fast once you get the system figured out. Plan on 3-4 hours to do the entire gallery, but don’t be discouraged if it takes you longer. Two or three people are as many as you will want helping you. Just remember, it will be permanent and it will look great when you are done! Order of Images: Regardless of the way you hang your gallery we suggest that you put the paintings and documents in the following chronological order: 1) The Spirit of ‘76, 2) Writing the Declaration of Independence, 1776, 3) The Declaration of Independence painting, 4) The Declaration of Independence document, 5) The Call To Arms, 6) Washington Crossing Delaware, 7) Signing the Constitution, 8) The U.S. Constitution, 9) The Bill of Rights and 10) Our Flag.
