Interested in Marine Careers? The Oregon Coast Aquarium offers job shadow opportunities to high school juniors and seniors. Outstanding sophomores required by their school may also apply. Job shadows are available on the third Wednesday from October through May(and upon request during Lincoln County spring break). Students can choose to shadow in the following areas: Marine mammal Bird Fish and invertebrate Other departments upon request
Each shadow offers one student a chance to spend four hours (mornings only) to see how our keepers take care of our animals and what their jobs are like. Afterwards students spend a half hour with a staff member from the public programs department discussing their experience and marine careers. How to apply: Fill out and send complete application (preferably typed) to address above. Applications may be sent in via mail, email or fax. Please note that shadows are filled on a first-apply-first- scheduled basis. Applications will start being accepted the last week of August and continue to be accepted throughout the year until all shadows are filled. If you need a longer career related learning experience, please inquire about our youth volunteer program.
