Internet History Technology and Security Papers First Essay: Write an essay about how your first encountered the Internet or an earlier networking technology. This journey began on the late half of 1999, I remember a young school boy visiting his aunt after classes, He was there always talking with his relatives and joking around when his cousin told him “Hey I have a computer... And the phone company installed the Internet yesterday... Do you want to see it...? It's really cool" the boy answered with a shy yes... Since he didn't understand the proposal. They went upstairs to his room and inside there was these TV looking thing, with stuffs attached to it. The cousin showed to the boy a button, which turned on that computer thing, he was explaining about it and a lot of things more, but the young man was dazzle with what he saw in the screen... And strange windows 98 SE picture and then a blue background screen with lots of interesting figures and very over excited arrow moving all over the place, it landed on a blue E " that's the Internet" the boy's cousin said.
The shocked boy asks, "what's that?" The answer he got “that’s the Internet man; it's a new thing, a place where everybody connects from all over the world...” And that's been since I recall my first interaction with a computer and by the way the Internet! That day I remember my relative throwing at me lot information, I saw my first web page that day, even type a little "hello" in irc and his messenger. the computer he has back then was a Compaq, with a wonderful pentium processor and a turbo button that was used to speed up the pc from 133 mhz to 333 mhz... I remember that thing sounding like a plane in the “turbo mode”, great moments of technology :). Until then, technology wasn't part of my world, but after that encounter something ignite within me, a flame called curiosity, I began to visit my cousin's place every time I could in order to play and learn more about this Internet and Computer world, those days I got to know about using the computer, chat a little, crash the pc a lot and now I remember that later when finally I became the happy owner of one, my favorite piece of software about those years was Encarta, a Microsoft Encyclopedia, I spent hours reading and learning about history and different civilizations. I got caught up in these wonderful world so much that I decided to find any knowledge about it so in my school my major was Electronics; there my thirst for knowledge went crazy because I learn about circuits, logic operations and finally got to repair, badly burned some of them down and assemble computers. Since that flame continued to grow every day I realized that this is what I wanted to do with my life, so i worked harder and harder every day to learn more and be better until on my graduation I was awarded with a scholarship for college to pursue a degree in Telecommunications Engineer, those years were very exciting,
my family didn't had enough money so it was around my second year of college that i got my first computer, I believe it was a Pentium 3 with 512mb of RAM and windows 2000 NT, later on this poor machine became the center of all my experiments and trials, I remember installing Windows XP, which after a few blackouts I finally succeed, a cd burner and my precious Encarta too. So as you can see kept struggling and learning and now I'm a very excited and happy Courserian. The time has passed since those days and now i look back with a smile on my face, I learned a lot, made mistakes, burned down things, was mistreated, crashed against the walls of being poor, but the passion, the will and desire to be more on this Technology World , kept me going. Today that little boy still wondering inside of me, and smiles a lot each time he read about technology, each time a problems surface on my job and I gets the chance to fix it!! So as you can see my fellow reader in a winters noon the Internet and Technology changed my life and my perception of the world, it allowed me to find a goal and a place, it presented me a vision of the world far beyond my neighborhood or city, it gave me a dream that i fall in love with and it keeps moving me forward.
