EMPLOYMENT TRACK

INTERNSHIP SFO’s Employment and Community Partnerships (ECP) Office is currently recruiting candidates for the “Career Connect: Employment Track” internship. This internship offers young people ages 18-25 the opportunity to gain work experience at the airport. Interns work in one of the many Airport Commission offices assisting with mostly administrative or clerical tasks. There are also internship positions that involve hands-on work and customer service.

ABOUT CAREER CONNECT: Employment Track (35 Hours Per Week, $19.24/Hour) 1. Eight month paid internship that allows youth to gain on-the-job training and increase their ability to obtain and retain a job. 2. Interns are hired as temporary employees of the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) in the 9920 Assistant to Professional job classification. 3. Interns receive training in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Interns also have the option to take additional computer training courses. 4. Interns attend a paid six week SFO orientation. During orientation, interns work between 15-20 hours per week. 5. After successful completion of the orientation, Employment Track interns are placed in their SFO host office. Work sites include Reprographics, Contracts Administration Unit, San Francisco Police Department: Airport Bureau, Security Access Office and Terminal Systems. The intern’s host office is determined by SFO Internships staff. 6. In addition to working in an office at SFO, interns will also work with the SFO Internships team to develop life skills around money management; communication; housing and transportation; and job readiness.

AFTER EMPLOYMENT TRACK: Transition to SFO Employment with one of the tenant businesses • Interns are evaluated throughout their internship by numerous SFO Internships staff and their SFO host office mentors. • Interns who successfully complete the Employment Track internship are provided transition services to seek employment with private companies at SFO. Prior SFO Interns have transitioned to positions as ramp agents, customer service associates, baristas, food service workers, baggage wrappers, etc. The current average wage for an employee at the airport is $13.52/hr.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1.  Age Requirement – must be between 18-25 years old 2.  GED, High School Diploma, or Certificate of Completion 3.  No felony convictions during the last 10 years 4.  Ability to pass a drug screening exam 5. Ability to work up to 35 hours per week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6. Either living in San Francisco (SF) or with a SF affiliation (originally from SF, attended school in SF, out of home placement in SF, etc.) The Career Connect: Employment Track program is for young people who have little to no work experience, or who have the desire to improve their professionalism and skill set. Candidates do not need to be “perfect”.
