NOTE TO BCTC STUDENTS  Beginning with the fall semester of 2006, BCTC students are no longer automatically eligible for participation in UK Intramural activities and other Campus Recreation programs.  To become eligible, BCTC students must pay the “Recreation Fee.”  The “Recreation Fee” can be paid by eligible BCTC students at www.uky.edu/UK-eStore along with fees for other UK programs.  For information about paying the “Recreation Fee,” becoming eligible for Campus Recreation programs and joining the Campus Rec programs, please call the Campus Recreation main office at 257-3928 or stop by Monday through Friday between 7am and 6pm to the main office located in the Johnson Center. GENERAL INFORMATION  All participants must create an account, electronically sign the online waiver and pass a participant quiz to participant in numerous intramural sports at www.imleagues.com

All participants should be familiar with the UK Participant Handbook Valid UK or BCTC student, faculty or staff ID required for all contests to participate No jewelry may be worn. No hats, skull caps, bandanas, or other headgear. Only a terry-cloth headband made for athletic purposes may be worn. http://www.uky.edu/campusrec/intramurals

OPEN TOURNAMENT  There are no gender restrictions for team rosters.  Teams may have any number combination of males and females on the roster, there are not minimum requirements per gender. o Ex: A roster may consist of 8 males or 8 females, 5 males and 3 females, 4 males and 4 females, etc.  Teams may also field any combination of males and females in the pool during a game. o Ex: If a team meets the minimum number of players required to play (5) they may use 5 males or 5 females, 4 males and 1 female, etc. ROSTERS  Eight (8) player limit for all rosters.  Players may play for ONLY ONE team.  Players are not officially on a team until they have joined the roster on IMLeagues and signed in with their ID for a game. Once a player has played for a team that is the team they shall be on for the remainder of the league or tournament.  Teams may add players until the start of the tournament. All rosters will lock at the start of the first game of the tournament. PLAYERS  The maximum number of players in the water at one time is five (5).  A team must have five players to start the game.  Once started, the game may continue with less than five players as long as the team has a chance to win.

LEAGUE OR TOURNAMENT PLAY  Schedules will be posted at www.imleagues.com  Schedule information will not be given over the telephone or through social media  The style of tournament will depend on the number of participating teams.  The tournament bracket will be created immediately following the closing of registration. GAME TIME AND LENGTH  Each game will consist of two 10-minute halves.  The game clock will run continuously until the final minute of the second half. The clock will then stop for each foul and change of possession.  Forfeit Rule: A 10-Minute Rule is in effect with 5 points being awarded to the prepared team at the start of the clock and an additional 5 points at the 5-minute mark. After 10 minutes the game is forfeit. If no players for a team are signed in at the designated game time the game will be an immediate forfeit.  Timeouts: Each team will get two timeouts per game. Each timeout will be one-minute in length. Each team will get one timeout for the entire overtime period. EQUIPMENT  All equipment will be provided by UK Intramurals  Participants must meet clothing requirements of the Lancaster Aquatic Center.  Each team will be provided swim caps to distinguish between teams.  No jewelry of any kind may be worn. BEGINNING A GAME  Each game shall begin with a captain’s meeting and a coin toss.  All players will start on their team’s side of the pool with one hand grabbing the wall.  The referee will start the game with a whistle and then will drop the ball in the middle of the pool. OVERTIME RULES  If the game is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 3-minute overtime period.  If it is still tied after 3-minutes there will be sudden death overtime and the first team to score will win. SCORING  All made baskets are scored as 1 point. SUBSTITUTIONS  Substitutions may be made during timeouts or after a whistle has been blown for a foul or violation.  A substitute who wished to enter the game shall remain on the pool deck until the official beckons them into the pool. JUMP BALL  A jump ball will be called when: o Opposing players have equal possession of the ball o When opposing players simultaneously hit the ball out of bounds o When the official cannot determine team possession for other reasons.

FREE THROWS  Free throws will be taken from the second lane line of the pool.  The shooting team must remain behind the 1st lane line closest to the goal.  Free throws will count as 1 point. FOULS  The following will result in two free throw shot attempts if the player being fouled is shooting: o Holding o Pushing o Dunking o Dumping  The following will result in a change in possession: o Holding o Pushing o Tipping o Jumping on an opponent  The following will result in a technical or a flagrant foul: o Entering the pool without permission o Grabbing the basket, dunking, or attempting to dunk o Delaying the game o Any unsportsmanlike act o Participation after disqualification  If a flagrant foul is called the player will be disqualified and the opposing team will receive possession.  Incidental contact will not be considered a foul. PROTEST  There will be no protest involving official’s judgment.  Protests of rule interpretation must be made before the start of the next dead ball situation.  To protest, the protesting team must begin the process immediately following the event in question. The supervisor’s decision is final.  Protests can be made without team time-outs. A rejected protest in this case will result in an Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the team captain.  Eligibility protests are permitted. They must be filed in writing by noon the following business day. All eligibility protest must be turned into the IM Office, room 172-B of the Johnson Center. CONDUCT  It is the desire of the Campus Recreation Department that all participants display good sportsmanship at all times.  Any player ejected from a game for any reason shall be suspended from ALL Intramural play until meeting with the Director of Intramurals. It is the responsibility of the player to contact the Campus Recreation Office to setup an appointment. If players are found to be participating before being reinstated they will be suspended from all Intramural Activity for the remainder of the semester. A team for which an ineligible player participated for will forfeit all games in which the ineligible player participated.  Fighting will not be tolerated in any form. Teams will be responsible for their players and spectators. Teams and/or individuals may be subjected to expulsion from any further Intramural Sports.
