1. ELIGIBILITY RULES a. Bellarmine University Intramural Sports program participation is voluntary and individuals use facilities at their own risk. Participation in any physical activity involves inherent risk and even when safety precautions are utilized, injuries and accidents can occur. The Sport, Recreation, and Fitness (SuRF) Department would like to encourage each individual to consult their physician and obtain adequate personal health/accident insurance prior to participation in our programs. b. You must have a Bellarmine University ID to participate. NO ID, NO PLAY…NO EXCEPTIONS! If you do not have your ID on Friday, get one made so you can participate. These are pool rules so they cannot be modified. c. No Person shall play on more than one team per sport. If caught doing so by supervisor or official, Player shall be suspended for remainder of season and that game shall be forfeited. Opposing team does not have to protest if caught by supervisor or official. d. No person shall use false identification in order to participate. If caught, person will be suspended from Intramural Sports and possibly SuRF for a period of time determined by the Intramural Director. e. All participants must fill out a travel waiver that can be signed the day of the event. 2. ROSTERS a. Each team will consist of 4 people to a boat. b. Because this is an open league, there are no male/female ratio restrictions. c. A maximum of 5 participants are permitted on a team. Teams can rotate active members for each round. d. A minimum of 3 people are needed to compete e. Players must be registered on IMLEAGUES to compete 3. EQUIPMENT/ATTIRE a. No non-aquatic footwear will be allowed. However, boat shoes or sandals are allowed. b. Goggles are not required but strongly recommended. c. Wearing proper swim wear will be enforced with these exceptions i. Participants may wear t-shirts or any athletic clothing instead of, or wear over bathing suits. d. All other equipment needed will be provided (boats, buckets, life jackets, etc.) e. NOTE: You will get wet, dress accordingly! 4. GAME a. The object of the game is to sink the other boats before yours sinks. Teams will compete in heats. b. Teams will have the option of using 3-4 buckets and/or a shield. c. Paddles will not be allowed so teams must use hands, buckets, or shields to maneuver around the pool. d. Players cannot stand on railing, edges, or crossbeams. They can stand on bottom of boat. e. Once boat has sunk below water level, all players must exit the boat and bring their canoes to the loading area. f. A whistle will be blown to start play. 5. SCORING

a. Teams will be awarded points for each heat in which they compete. The top finishers will compete in the championship round i. 1st place – 6 points ii. 2nd place – 4 points iii. 3rd place – 3 points iv. 4th place – 2 points v. 5th place – 1 points b. The number of rounds before the championship round will be determined by the number of competing boats. c. The championship round will be a single round with the winners determined by last boat standing. 6. PENALTIES a. All offenses are counted against the team (1st, 2nd, 3rd) but only person committing offense will be disqualified b. A penalty will be blown by officials but the game will continue. Compliance is required. c. Standing on railing, edges, or crossbeams i. 1st offense: 1 full bucket dumped into your canoe ii. 2nd offense: 4 full buckets dumped into your canoe iii. 3rd offense: Individual disqualification d. Making contact with an opponent’s canoe, bucket, person, etc. i. 1st offense: 1 full bucket dumped into your canoe ii. 2nd offense: 4 full buckets dumped into your canoe iii. 3rd offense: Individual disqualification e. Exiting canoe into water i. Cannot return to boat and must immediately move to edge of pool f. Using buckets to remove water i. 1st offense: 1 full bucket dumped into your canoe ii. 2nd offense: 4 full buckets dumped into your canoe iii. 3rd offense: Individual disqualification g. Any attempt to hinder another team after your canoe has been sunk will result in an ejection for all players involved from the rest of the event.
