"Softwired allows you to be where you can't.To communicate what words can not." Dr. Henry Wild, CEO, Softwired

Introduction Softwired's iBus//MessageBus provides a low maintenance, extremely high performant JMS solution, employing an elegant and powerful distributed architecture. iBus//MessageBus is the only pure Java, IP multicast-enabled JMS product on the market today. It is designed for distributed messaging installations that are deployed behind the firewall. iBus//MessageBus is used by companies such as eBay to build their mission critical information systems, these systems just can not lose messages or go down! The financial and telecommunications industries require carrier class infrastructure that has high throughput. iBus//MessageBus not only provides publish/subscribe communication, but also coordination features for building applicationlevel clustering, including failure detection, tracking topic subscription / unsubscription and tracking primary/backup state.

Overview These unique features offered by iBus//MessageBus tremendously simplify the development of load-balanced, highly available and fault-tolerant server-side business logic. iBus//MessageBus fully utilizes the benefits IP Multicast offers. It allows different publish/ subscribe topics to be allocated to individual IP multicast groups, either fully automatic or controlled via administrative action. This significantly enhances scalability and uses the available network bandwidth with maximum efficiency. iBus//MessageBus is versatile Java messaging middleware supporting the instantaneous delivery of message objects via IP Multicast. iBus//MessageBus offers a unique solution for a wide range of applications, such as electronic business, client/server applications and information distribution among embedded systems.

Architecture iBus//MessageBus is a highly scaleable serverless JMS Provider. Producers and Consumers using this infrastructure communicate over IP Multicast or TCP/IP. An iBus//MessageBus client is able to be both a Producer and a Consumer of messages simultaneously. iBus//MessageBus provides the abstraction of a “Message Bus” enabling Consumers to subscribe to particular destinations, while making it easy for information Producers to transmit messages.

JMS is the preferred messaging standard for the Java developer. iBus//MessageBus implements and extends this standard, bringing to market a comprehensive feature rich offering, with a unique architecture. iBus//MessageBus provides a standard set of ‘easy to use‘ programming abstractions for developing messaging based applications. A distinctive feature of iBus//MessageBus is its Quality-of-Service (QoS) framework. Programmers can choose from a variety of QoS by specifying an appropriate destination.

Why IP Multicast? IP multicast is the key to very high speed reliable messaging. Solutions such as financial information and dealing systems, Online auction websites and other critical data feeds rely on messages being distributed both rapidly and reliably. iBus//MessageBus is deployed in solutions that require high through-put and extendibility and at the same time provide low latency and maintenance. iBus//MessageBus is the industry's first, tried and tested fully distributed IP Multicast JMS middleware. Zero maintenance, highspeed messaging. Light-weight, versatile and server-free message service, using the JMS API. Unique group coordination features for application-level clustering simplify the development of load-balanced, high available and tolerant applications. Supports IP Multicast.
