ABOUT ST. PAUL COUNTY The County of St. Paul is located in the center of the Alberta HUB region. Alberta HUB is a partnership of communities, post-Secondary education institutions, and business/industry in Northeastern Alberta meant to enhance the quality of life and economic interests of this region. The County is very diversified with a strong Agriculture industry complemented with Tourism, Oil/Gas and Manufacturing. The Town of St. Paul is the major business centre in the County which also includes the Town of Elk Point, and the Hamlets of Ashmont, Heinsburg, Mallaig, Lafond, Lindbergh, St. Lina and St. Vincent. The area is an ideal destination for the outdoorsman with its wealth of provincial and municipal campgrounds. 

St. Paul County is a member of Alberta HUB, the regional  economic development alliance of Northeast Alberta, which is the northern region of the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor.

OUR TOP INDUSTRIES Oil and Gas The eastern side of the County of St. Paul, located on the Cold Lake Oil sands area, is experiencing major oil development. Pengrowth has a SAGD facility in the County with an investment of over 1 Billion dollars. Over 8000 oil/gas wells exist as CNRL, Husky and Devon Energy continue with drilling programs. Major upstream oil service companies have established a presence in the County. Reasonable land costs, developed infrastructure and direct access to markets make St. Paul County a wise choice for investment.

Agriculture St. Paul County’s diversified agricultural economy helps to make this one of the biggest industry sectors in the region. The County boasts over 1,000 farms producing coarse grains such as wheat, barley and canola. Pea field acreages are also increasing. 2010 Gross Farm Receipts exceeded $100 million. The County is home to a large number of cattle, dairy, hog and poultry farms. 

Tourism The Tourism and Recreation sector is a growing industry in the County and offers excellent investment opportunites. The County of St. Paul features numerous campsites, Musems, major attractions, numerous events and family acitivites. A major part of Alberta's Iron Horse Trail winds it way through the County providing breath-taking views. Some provincial historic sites include the Fort George-Buckingham House in the Elk Point area, and the Frog Lake Memorial Site in Frog Lake.

Transportation The County of St. Paul offers global market access with its highway system. Highway 36 and 41 run North/South through the County accessing U.S. markets to the South and the Oil Sands areas of the North. Highway 28 a main East/West highway  runs through the County connecting major development to suppliers. The St. Paul and Elk Point Airports offer excellent air services. Rail access is gained 90 km South to the CN main line.
