Hartland Road, Hartland, MI 48353. Sealed proposal for the work identified in the attached specifications documents must be received before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud on Friday, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. Faxed proposals will not be accepted. Emailed proposals to [email protected] or [email protected] are acceptable, if received on time. Cromaine District Library reserves the right to waive any informalities in bidding, reject any or all bids, accept any bid, when in the opinion of Cromaine District Library such action will serve in the best interests of the Library. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will resurface the north lot at 3688 N. Hartland Road with a 2 inch paving cap over the existing lot. A second lot at the corner of Henry and Hartland/Avon Road (one block south) will also be resurfaced with 2 inches of compacted asphalt over the existing lot. The work includes all labor, materials, tools, appliance, equipment, and facilities necessary to do all of the work noted in the Scope. Public safety precautions, permits, and licenses required to complete the work safely and within regulation will be provided by the respondent. All work shall be done to the satisfaction and under the supervision of the Building Manager. SCOPE OF WORK: North Lot of 15,750 square feet:  Remove asphalt along concrete and across entrance and exit for proper butt joint.  Base in removed areas and wedge low/crumbled areas with compacted asphalt.  Apply bond coat.  Pave 2 inches compacted at 1100 20AA asphalt over existing lot.  Re-set 22 parking blocks.  Stripe lot. Henry Lot of 7,371 square feet:  Remove asphalt along walk.  Base in removed area and wedge various low areas with compacted asphalt.

Please quote cost of any additional 21AA crushed concrete, if required. Please quote cost to remove additional unstable soil, if found, and replace with crushed concrete. DESIRED TIMELINE: Completion by Memorial Day, May 28, 2018. The period of May 21 through June 1 is a low traffic period for the public’s access to the building’s main entrance on the north lot. Paving should be completed by May 28, 2018; bond coat and striping may follow but should be completed by June 15, 2018. ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES Worker’s Compensation: Awardee will provide a signed statement before performing the work under the contract: “I am aware that every employer is to be insured against liability for workers’ compensation or to undertake self insurance in accordance with the provisions of that code before commencing the performance of the work of the contract.” Independent Contractor Status: It is expressly understood that the awardee is acting as an “independent contractor” and not as an agent or employee of the Library. Site Visit: Respondent assures upon submission of bid that the respondent has visited and observed the site conditions to provide a complete and operational system in accordance with referenced specifications in this bid.
