Dear Parents/Carers,
Use of Tablet Technology – Redmoor Academy iPad Scheme We are delighted to be in a position to invite you to join many of our parents who have joined our “iPads for All” scheme. This initiative gives students the opportunity to lease and/or purchase an iPad through a school based scheme rather than sign up to one of the national schemes used by many others. You should read the enclosed documentation to understand the many advantages for students who make use of this technology as we believe it will help make them more effective learners. I should stress that there is NO obligation on any parent to join the scheme. Tablet technology will be made available for all students if its use is essential to the success of a lesson. Our scheme offers the option to either pay the whole sum, or to spread the cost over the next 36 months. The school will provide an iPad, case and essential starting apps – your child simply has to provide the interest and the willingness to engage with the many opportunities the technology provides. An increasing number of our students already bring their own device to school and we are fully supportive of the idea of “bring your own device” for those who already have a tablet. However, teachers will be expecting certain software to be installed so it will be up to you to provide these apps (or alternatives, depending on the type of tablet you have) for use in lessons. Please consider this offer carefully as this technology is increasingly common in the classroom. Having decided on your response you should complete and return the attached slip by Tuesday 24th November 2015, if you wish to join the scheme. You will be required to sign a Home School Agreement outlining the responsibilities of the school, parents/carers and students to ensure the success of the scheme, prior to receiving your iPad.
