Irish Chain Star 12-1/2”x12-1/2” Things to Know *Before you Begin* All Quantities and cuts are based on 44/45”-wide, 100% cotton fabrics. All measurements include a 1/4” seam allowance, unless stated differently in the directions. WOF stands for Width of Fabric. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated. Read through the instructions before beginning your project. All directions have been tested and are presented in good faith, but no warranty can be given nor results guaranteed. We truly hope you have fun with your project!

Cutting Directions 



From Background fabric cut: - (8) 2-1/2”x2-1/2” Squares. (A) - (1) 5-1/4”x5-1/4” Square. Subcut in half diagonally both directions to make (4) Quarter Square Triangles. (B) From Green fabric cut: - (1) 5-1/4”x5-1/4” Square. Subcut in half diagonally both directions to make (4) Quarter Square Triangles. (C)



From Blue fabric cut: - (2) 4-7/8”x4-7/8” Squares. Subcut in half diagonally both once to make (4) Half Square Triangles. (D)



From Orange fabric cut: - (8) 2-1/2”x2-1/2” Squares (E) - (1) 4-1/2”x4-1/2” Square (F)

4 Patch Blocks 

Layout (2) Background “A” squares and (2) Orange “E” Squares as shown.



Sew blocks into rows pressing towards the orange squares.



Sew rows together to make (1) 4 patch block. Press in the direction of the arrow. Block should measure 4-1/2”4-1/2”



Repeat previous 3 steps to make a total of (4) 4 Patch Blocks.

Star Point Blocks 

Layout (1) Backgound “B” triangle, (1) Green “C” Triangle, and (1) Blue “D” triangle as shown.



Sew (1) Background “B” triangle to (1) Green “C” triangle. Press towards the Green Triangle.



Sew the “B/G” triangle to (1) Blue “D” triangle. Press towards the Blue Triangle. Block should measure 4-1/2”x4-1/2”



Repeat previous (3) steps to make a total of (4) Star point Blocks.

Assembling the Block 

Layout (4) 4 Patch blocks, (4) Star Point blocks, and (1) Orange “F” square like shown. F



Sew blocks into rows. Press in the direction of the arrows.



Sew rows together to make (1) Irish Chain Star block. Block should measure 12-1/2”x12-1/2”
