School Website: www.groveprimaryschool.org Another busy week. Lots of visitors have been in school this week and commented how calm and hard working our children are. Year 3 were also commended for their attitudes and behaviour on their visit to the Time and Tide Museum. As usual our children are a real credit to all of us. Many thanks for your continued support, Mr David Baker Attendance Champions The competition continues to hot up for this term’s class attendance award. Last week the class with the best attendance was CELANDINE with an attendance of 100%. The current leaders of our accumulated attendance race for the year are ELDER who have had a class attendance of 97.7% since the start of the year. Time and Tide Visit Year 3 had a wonderful day on Thursday this week as they went back in time and became evacuees experiencing life during World War Two. They visited the Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth and took part in a range of activities including making rag rugs, training drills with the Home Guard and learning about life on the Home Front. Sense Charity The Lowestoft branch of the Sense Charity supports children who are both blind and deaf. If you have had a clear out at home and have any unwanted items such as books, CDs, DVDs, clothes or bric-a-brac then could the children bring them to school and place them in the bags available around the school. The charity will collect them from us next Thursday, 2nd February. Thank you for anything that you are able to donate. Achievements In The Community Oliver Deamer in Rose class has just achieved his Stage One Swimming Award. Well done, Oliver! Year 4 Football Last Friday our Year 4 football team went to Red Oak Primary for the Hub Football Tournament. All games were played in a good spirit and everyone enjoyed themselves.

SATs Meeting Miss Rhodes and Mr Moore will be holding a parents meeting on Wednesday 1st February from 5.15 to 6.00 pm to explain how we are preparing the Year 6 children for their SATs in May. It will be the opportunity for you to ask any questions End of the Day Please could we make sure that the children are collected promptly from school at 3.30 pm. We have had an increasing number of children who are waiting in reception at the end of the day. We appreciate that there are occasions when you are late for no fault of your own but can we all endeavour to collect on time. Many thanks. Parent View Survey. A Challenge We always give our children the opportunity to challenge themselves in their lessons. Here is a challenge for the grown ups! Our target is to get 30 parent surveys completed before half term. Please help us to achieve this target and share your thoughts on the school. www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/login?destination=give-your-views

The PE Curriculum PE is part of our required curriculum. The PE kit is a requirement to be able to join in this part of the curriculum. At present we are unable to deliver the PE curriculum to a small number of children due to a lack of correct kit. Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit in school to enable them to complete the full curriculum. Don’t worry if the kit is left in school, they only wear it for a maximum of 2 hours per week. Snacks A quick reminder that although we encourage the children to bring a morning snack, we do require it to be healthy. Suitable options include, fruit, cheese or low sugar cereal bars.
