Eastbury Farm Primary School Newsletter 9th September 2016 Nurturing and developing our children for the future. Dear Parents, Carers and Governors, Welcome back to the start of the new school year. We are looking forward to the year ahead.
Roald Dahl Day On Tuesday 13th September we will be celebrating 100 years of Roald Dahl across the school. Children are encouraged to come dressed as a character from one of Roald Dahl’s books or come to school dressed in his favourite colour – yummy yellow! There is a suggested donation of £1 per pupil. We will be raising money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous-Children’s Charity. The charity exists to make life better for seriously ill children and young people around the UK. There is a rumour that school staff may also be dressing up too! Uniform reminders It is pleasing to see many of our children in the correct uniform, with smart black shoes and taking pride in their appearances. Please do ensure that your child is in full school uniform daily. Hair cuts should be smart and hair bands a plain school colour (without adornment). Please see attached. EFSA Meeting The first EFSA meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday 14th September at 7pm. We encourage parents to join our fantastic parent body and attend the first meeting to plan the very exciting upcoming events. EFSA Disco The first EFSA event of the year is the dazzling disco, which will take place on Friday 23rd September. The KS1 disco will take place straight after school from 3:30-4:30pm, and the KS2 disco will take place from 4:45-5:45pm. Look out for more information from EFSA shortly.
Jeans 4 Genes Day We will be participating in Jeans 4 Genes day on Friday 23rd September. The children can wear their jeans for the day, and bring in a suggested donation of £1. The money raised on Jeans for Genes Day funds a range of inititatives that improve the lives of children affected by a genetic disorder. It is estimated that 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. Please visit https://www.jeansforgenesday.org/ for further information.
Parking As we start a new academic year, a gentle reminder to be mindful of local residents and pedestrians when parking on and around Bishops Avenue. Some parents are also walking through the car park. Please do use the path ways and not the car park. We have a lot of deliveries and traffic so the car park can be unsafe. Roofing A dedicated team of contractors are working hard on replacing the entire school roof and some windows. The roof has been letting in water over the last few years and we are very grateful that Hertfordshire County have prioritised this work. We hope the work will be completed by half term. Thank you for your patience. Watford’s Big Sports Day Watford Borough Council are hosting their ‘Big Sports Day’ tomorrow: ‘One day, six hours, sports galore: football with Watford FC, tennis, athletics – even the sack race, BMXing, a climbing wall, exercise classes, and more. Come to Watford’s Big Sports Day in The Parade on Saturday 10 September from 11am to 5pm to try something new, get fit and have lots of fun. More information at www.watfordbigevents.co.uk.”’ Diary dates We will be sending out diary dates next week. Best wishes for a lovely weekend, Kind regards, Mrs. Ahluwalia and Mrs. Cachra
