Curriculum A number of questions were raised at the parent consultation evening regarding the spellings given for homeworkparticularly in Year 3 and 4. They are more difficult due to the changes in age related expectations, which have risen. This includes common words as well as the list that we send home with the children. We do understand that they are harder, however, the children have got to learn them in order to hit the national standard. Whist in school, we encourage them to use these spellings in their work and they are always displayed in the classroom. Unfortunately we cannot assess your child at ‘age related expectation’ or above, unless they are using and spelling these types of words accurately, in their independent writing. We are grateful for all your support in this matter.
