Foods, herbs and cleansing products to include for better detoxification: 1. Water - increase the amount to 2 quarts per day minimum. (8 glasses) 2. LivAmend – contains 4 cleansing herbs ◦

Increases bile flow so toxins can leave liver.

3. Cruciferous family vegetables, like cabbage, broccoli and kale have properties that greatly increase cleansing. Cultured cabbage and kale are even more cleansing. 4. Fermented foods contain hardy, first generation bacteria that are powerful cleansers. (They must have a clean world to live in) 5. Raw veggies (as long as they are pureed or chewed very well because they can be hard to digest). 6. Blended vegetable smoothie – made of raw non-cruciferous vegetables, since cruciferous vegetables have properties that suppress the thyroid and should be cooked. 7.

Fruits from the acid fruit family - have a cleansing astringent quality to them. Examples include: lemons, limes, grapefruit, cranberry and pomegranate juice.

8. Use Stevia to sweeten your foods, then you can avoid mucous-forming carbs, but still satisfy your desire and need for the sweet taste. 9. Energy Producing herbs or foods that increase energy – because the first action any cell takes is to push out toxins when it has the energy to do this. Energy = cleansing. You get energy from your adrenals and thyroid. Resting and eating foods that nourish your thyroid and adrenals can help (this includes plenty of minerals, healthy fats like coconut oil, egg yolks and raw butter, fermented foods and drinks, vitamin A, B vitamins and vitamin C). 10. Foods, herbs and products you should absolutely avoid while cleansing: •

Mucous forming foods o Sugar in any form o Flour products - bread, pasta, cereals o Rice, or other “whole grains” we have been taught are healthy – have more sugar (better choices quinoa, millet, buckwheat, amaranth) o Dairy products – especially cream, milk •

Goat and sheep milk are less mucous forming



Raw milk is less mucous forming.



Fermented milk kefir from goat, sheep or A2 cows are best way to have diary (this is typically recommended in stage 2 of Body Ecology, after your inner ecosystem has healed or symptoms are resolved).



Over cooked foods – including meats



Alcohol – very dehydrating so can’t cleanse



Lack of exercise – walking and squatting are important to do



Poor food combining choices



Strong laxative herbs – like senna, cascara sagrada - ultimately weaken your adrenals and make you weaker. They deplete minerals you’re your intestines and therefore, cells and bones, where minerals are stored. o Only safe herb is Triphala – an Ayurvedic herb o Need more fiber, but not psyllium, which can be harsh and drying o Best source of fiber is from vegetables, Body Ecology grain-like seeds and cultured vegetables.

Why is detoxification important? The length and the quality of your LIFE depend on it. When we lose our ability to cleanse we start to die. Life on this planet would have died long ago if Nature didn’t constantly cleanse.

What mistakes are people making today in detoxification programs? 1. They don’t really understand how the body is designed to cleanse. 2. They are new to cleansing and fancy marketing schemes trick them into taking cleansing” or “detox” products or programs that don’t work and may be harmful. 3. They don’t understand how long it will take to cleanse. 4. They may never be able to clear their body of poisons. 5. They must understand that cleansing is a daily, life long process – like bathing or cleaning our teeth – especially today. 6. They don’t understand which foods are cleansing and which foods (or combinations of foods) create toxins.

What role does colon cleansing play in detoxification? In my opinion, it is absolutely essential to the process of cleansing. You can’t really clean the intestines if you don’t practice some form of colon cleansing USING WATER. Getting well and feeling younger is easier when you incorporate colon cleansing. By the time we are in our teens (and for many of us even as children), our intestines have begun to accumulate a layer of material that stores toxins, parasites and worms. This material won’t ever come out, unless you cleanse your colon. It’s the consistency of a “gummy bear”. So, no matter what program of cleansing -- using food and detoxifying herbs -- this material remains there forever until we die unless we remove it through colon cleansing. There’s an art to doing this. You have the power to release toxins and experience great health! You can do this with a cleansing Body Ecology diet and with colon cleansing. Eating a clean, healthy, probiotic diet can help your body detoxify and if there are stuck toxins, colon cleansing can help release them so that you can feel your best. © 2012 BodyEcology.com. We are moving into winter, is now the right time to detoxify? This is a yes and no answer...it depends. A dietary cleanse, like the Body Ecology anti-viral protocol (which consists of mostly raw and liquid foods), is easier to do in a hot season or in a hot climate. But you can cleanse any season with saunas, infrared BioMat therapy and colon therapy. So in this way, you can cleanse any time of year. Keep in mind that following the Body Ecology diet is already a detoxifying diet. Many people want to take this further in the spring and summer by doing the Body Ecology anti-viral protocol for a 4 – 10 day period. This is what I mean by “dietary cleanse.”

To do a dietary cleanse: ◦

Better and easier in warm climates (Arizona, Hawaii, Southern Florida, Australia, New Zealand).



If you live in a cold climate, your body won’t support you if you try to do a dietary cleanse because winter is a time of storing and protecting your body, keeping it warm.

Anytime cleansing: •

You can do colon cleansing all year long.



You can do saunas all year long.



You can also go on a vacation to a warm climate and go on a cleansing diet.



Anyone can do a semi-fast and this is always good for your body. Say every Friday you eat very light meals and drink mostly fluids.

Fasting: •

If you are weak you should not fast.



Fasting is good for people experiencing excess. They are not for someone already deficient.
