CHCA Winter Term 2017 January 3-13, 2017 Course Description for: Theatre Tour Troupe Instructor(s): Mrs. Susan Jung, Mrs. Sara Potts Course Type: Local Day (Greater Cinti Area) Service Hours: 10 Maximum enrollment: 20 Minimum enrollment: 8 Length of trip (if applicable): Students enrolling in this course will learn what it is like to be a part of a touring theatre troupe. We will spend the first week putting together performance repertoire and the second week traveling to local elementary schools and other venues for Overview: outreach performances. Students will learn what it takes to travel with a show, including set-up of props and scenery, adapting to different performance spaces, and performing for varying audiences. 1. To learn all on-stage and off-stage aspects of touring with a theatre troupe 2. To rehearse and perform a play and/or scenes for children 3. To build confidence as a performer 4. To build community by working together Course Goals: 5. To share theatre with younger students who might not otherwise have the opportunity 6. To teach important values through scenes from different cultures 7. Description: Students will spend the first week learning and rehearsing scenes or a short play to perform at local elementary schools. Students will also design and create portable props and sets and learn what it takes to be a part of a traveling theatre troupe. The second week will be putting what we have learned into action by taking our show to local elementary schools and other venues for outreach performances. This course is well suited to: Students interested in theatre performance $100 (includes costumes, sets, royalties, and travel expenses), price may be Cost: reduced at maximum enrollment Additional costs: lunches
