Jacqueline Horvat With more than 12 years of experience, I have developed a broad corporate and commercial litigation practice. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants, my specialties include complex disputes involving oppression remedies, share purchase agreements, dissent and appraisal rights, breaches of contract and fiduciary duties, commercial real estate transactions, intellectual property rights and private and public corporate restructuring. My work as an Associate Partner at Sutts, Strosberg LLP has brought me before the Registrar in Bankruptcy, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench. I also have extensive experience in class actions involving allegations of product liability, price-fixing, civil and criminal conspiracy, fraud, interference with economic relations, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duties, negligence and breach of commercial agreements. In 2011, I was elected as a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada from Windsor/Southwest, where my work on the profession’s governing body includes issues of access to justice, articling reform, professional development and more. I am the current Chair of the Inter-jurisdictional Mobility Committee and a former Vice-Chair of the Professional Development and Competence Committee. I was a member of the Articling Task Force, and currently serve as a member of the Proceedings Authorization Committee, Professional Regulation Committee, and Priority and Planning Committee, among others, and also as a member of the ABS Working Group and Mentoring Task Force. I have also served as an Adjudicator for discipline cases concerning lawyer and paralegal conduct. Since 2011, I have been a member of the Board of Directors ofLibraryCo, where I serve as a Director. In 2014, I joined the Ontario Justice Education Network‘s Board of Directors, where I serve as Director.
