J økulkyrkia, Queen M aud Land. U nder the leadership o f N orw egian Ivar Tollefsen, N orw egians m ade a num ber o f notable ascents. On January 10, all 13 m em bers, including Ralph H ø ibakk, reached the 3148-m eter (10,329-foot) sum m it o f J økulkyrkia. The party then divided and small team s ascended som e 25 unclim bed peaks, pinnacles and rock spires, som e o f extrem e difficulty. The ascent o f the 1150-m eter-high northw est face o f U lvetanna (2931 m eters,9616 feet) took them 11 days from January 24 to February 4. They gave it a UIAA grade o f V III, A2, 70° ice. The sum m iters w ere Robert C aspersen, Sjur N esheim and Tollefsen. Very dem anding were the ascents o f G essnertind (3021 m eters, 9911 feet), K inntanna (2724 m eters, 8937 feet) and H oltanna N orth (2630 m eters, 9629 feet). J ó z e f N y k a ,Editor,
