Our inaugural season as Junior Eagles is off to a flying start! The pep rally was a smashing success. We filled the stands, the kids enjoyed themselves and Mother Nature cooperated. I thank you for your support in that event. And all of our thanks again to Coach Fichter, his staff and the players for their participation. I want to take a minute to lay out what will be an extremely busy and most important week. Tuesday night all of our football players and cheerleaders will be certified with the AYFCL. If a child is not certified, they cannot participate in the season. Certification involves confirming all paperwork (insurance, birth certificate, registration, etc) and weighing tackle football players to ensure they qualify. Please make every effort to have your child at practice on Tuesday. Certification starts at 6pm sharp. Thursday night is the night to turn in fundraising packets/monies. This is MANDATORY. Fundraising will be collected at the Board tent. Please make your way over to turn in your portion. Failure to hand in fundraising will result in children missing games. If you need to sell a few more items to meet the minimum, you could buy them yourselves. Or perhaps an Eagles family you know who buys out would buy an item. Make a last push at work to sell items. But please know it must be completed and turned in. There are no exceptions. With so much going on and our normal Sunday game moving to Saturday, I have decided to delay picture day until later in the season. It will now be on Saturday, October 7. Details will be shared as we get closer to the date. Game times for week 1 will be 1:30 for flag (arrive at 1:00), 3:30 for C, 5:30 for B and 7:30 for A. All tackle teams, football and cheer, need to arrive an hour early. For those families that are new to our program, a reminder that we play our home games at the Varsity stadium, same place as the pep rally. I will close with a reminder from the referees: Please remind your coaches, players, and spectators that the referee crews are under orders to comply with a Zero Tolerance policy. If a player, coach, or spectator is acting in a manner that is detrimental to the game, and impacting others, they WILL be removed immediately and without warning. Both the Junior Eagles and the AYFCL agree whole-heartedly with this policy. We take it a step further. If you are ejected you will also be suspended for the following game. Let’s remember why we are all here in the first place, for the kids. There's no place in youth sports for that behavior. Let’s keep all cheering positive, please. Thank you for your continued support! Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any event or email with questions or concerns or just general feedback. Chris Dugan President Irondequoit Junior Eagles
