2 YEAR OLD PROVISION NOW AT THE ROBERT STEPHENSON CAMPUS Do you know any two year olds that would like to attend the newly opened Early Years Centre at the Robert Stephenson Campus ? Our Early Years Centre opened in November and offers a three hour session (morning or afternoon) for two year olds, the term after their second birthday. This is a very important stage as it helps children get ready for school. The qualified Early Years staff provide lots of exciting activities both inside and out that are fun for the children and also help them learn. Some children may be eligible for a free place if the criteria are met. Paid places are also available at £20 for three sessions. To find out more or to arrange a visit, please contact Clare Lishman, Director of Early Years -01670 816111 ext:395

13th – Break up for half term

MOBILE PHONES Many parents I’m sure will have received mobile phones from Santa Claus and I would like to remind you to notify the office of your new number please. Please let us know of any changes to emergency contacts, email addresses or home phone numbers too. If any of the children got a phone from Santa we ask that they do not bring them into school. Only children in Years 5 and 6, who walk home alone, are allowed to have a phone in school. They must hand it into their teacher each morning and collect it at the end of the day.

GRANDPARENTS GROUP Once a month we hold a coffee morning for any of our grandparents who help to look after their grandchildren. This is run by our Family Welfare Team and gives grandparents an opportunity to chat over coffee and cake. The next meeting is on Thursday 5th February at 10.30 – 12pm at JBP. For more information contact Rachel Wright on 816111.

THE JOSEPHINE BUTLER CAMPUS

PARENT PARKING As you are aware we are constantly asking you to be courteous and park safely when coming to the campus.

Darren has also donated an iPad for the final winner at the end of the year. He has also challenged us to reach 96% attendance for the year – if we do this we will get a whole campus treat.

Can I remind you that the car park in The Robert Stephenson Campus is for staff only.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Last week a member of staff needed to get to an important meeting and their car was blocked in by parents collecting children from this campus.

Encourage your child to attend everyday. Even if they did not get 100% last term they can try to get that this term.

Please get your child to school everyday and on time.

Please do not take holidays during term time.

BIKES AND SCOOTERS

Congratulations to last terms winners: Rebecca Linney

Lexie Fortune

Last term many of our children took part in scooter and bike safety training. Please remind your child not to ride them once they come on to the campus – this includes the main path. We have many young children on site and we do not want further accidents or bumps.

SMOKING

DO YOU SHOP ONLINE?

Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the campus. A number of parents have raised concerns about other parents smoking as they wait next to their cars.

The Friends of Josephine Butler Primary have recently registered with “The giving Machine”. This is a company that will give a percentage of the commission you spend online back to the school.

100% ATTENDANCE WINNERS

Each time you shop at Amazon, Sainsbury, Next, Ebay, John Lewis, Play.com, Tesco, M&S and many many more you could be getting up to 75% commission paid back to us.

Each week we choose a name from the list of children who have 100% attendance. This child is given a £5 voucher to spend at Amazon. These vouchers are donated to the campus from Vision Education and we are very grateful to Darren Starling and the team there. Every child who gained 100% attendance last term was given a certificate on Monday and 3 lucky winners got a Metro Centre Voucher. Clare Marriott – Campus Head

This is a tremendous fundraiser for us. To start please go to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk Find The Josephine Butler Primary Campus in the schools section, register and then start shopping! It is free and easy to join and free and easy to use.
