Map your Plan • Hope vs Plan •
If we want things in our lives, we can’t just hope for them—we have to plan for them. We have to plan to be leaders, we have to plan to matter to other people.
• Permission to be a Leader •
People think it’s something beyond them, they think that leadership belongs in the realm of other people and that leadership is not fun. • Somehow we’ve come to believe that Leadership is only for a chosen few. The truth is, Leadership is for us all. And, this is not about lowering expectations; it’s about raising them for every last one of us. Leadership is not in one special place, and it’s not in one special person. Leadership is wherever somebody is trying to find it.
• Leadership: Rule #1 •
“What would the person I want to be, do in this situation, and then- do that!”
Map your Plan • Hypothetical •
Someone follows you around for 2 weeks
• What 3 values would they say that you stand for? • •
What 3 words do you hope that person says that you stand for Turn your Value into a goal.
• 3 steps 1) Identify your values 2) Define those values • We have to define the things that we want to define us. 3) Create a set of criteria that you can use to make decisions that are consistent with your values.

Map your Plan •
You must operationalize our personal leadership values thru questions. •
My 6 Questions to ensure I represent my values 1) How have I recognized someone else’s leadership today? 2) What have I done today to make it more likely that I will learn something 3) What have I done today to make it more likely that someone else will learn something. 4) What positive thing have I told somebody to their face today? 5) What positive thing have I said about someone who isn’t in the room today? 6) How have I been good to myself today?
Leadership is not and never was a solo act. We are called to replicate ourselves. Our primary task should be the raising up and empowering of people. In doing so, we not only help our organization reach its given potential, but we also accomplish much more than we ever could on our own.
